Making Peace inside the Democratic Primary

The time has come for the DEM candidates to live up to the Rhetoric they have spewed over the last many years as it relates to negotiating with our enemies. They are uniquely placed to do just such a thing, to negotiate with our enemies. For nearly the entire Bush Presidency, the DEMS have bemoaned the fact that this administration has been unwilling to negotiate with likes of North Korea, Iran, and other nefarious fellows. Today, they have the unique and sole possibility to live up to their own demands, their own rhetoric.

Currently Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton are nearly tied in the race to the Democratic nomination for President. Neither can win the coveted prize without the others help, or the most unheard and unlikely slide in one or the others favor in the waning days of the primary by nearly a 10 to 1 margin. This is not going to happen!

So, as we look to the potential options left on the table for Barrack and Hillary, we find a fight for Super Delegates as option one. But this option has a very ugly downside for both candidates. They can conceivably break the party in two and ensure a McCain Presidency.

Option two is a negotiated Peace.
The willingness of either or both to negotiate with the enemy of America, the other candidate.

This could be a test to see if the rhetoric spewed by the DEMS and these two candidates is worth its weight in pudding. Can either show the willingness to negotiate from a place of moderate to no advantage and bring abut a settlement that benefits both, or do they continue to blow smoke up the collective buttocks of America.

Obama, in particular, believes it is important to negotiate with the likes of Iran to secure our peace. Does he also see the import to negotiate with Hillary to save his party?

Can either swallow the arrogance of their campaign and begin the negotiating to bring this War of Words to an end without anymore bloodshed of fellow Democrats? Can either find it within themselves to sacrifice for the common good as Mrs. Obama and Mr. Clinton have long argued as it relates to the rest of the country?

Today, looking out upon the landscape of Democratic Politics you see the likelihood of stronger and deeper attacks, particularly from Hillary. While Obama has the long view to stay above the fray, can he seriously believe that he can?

Is the collective egos of Obama and Clinton so entrenched that they cannot see the damage awaiting the bloody battle ahead? The senior Senator of Florida has cautioned about a "Train wreck" ahead should this not be resolved soon.

All the puff media and favorable media received by both candidates between Mid-December and Mid-February will begin to decline and the media will be forced to deal with reality should the two begin the final campaign towards nomination. During the Dec through Feb period, Obama received 83% favorable coverage from network news while Hillary received 53% favorable. These numbers are likely to reverse themselves should they begin the trench warfare that is likely to occur should the negotiated peace not begin soon.

No longer will the biased media coverage be able to steer the reports on the candidates and the result will be bloody. The loss of control of the message beaming out from Network headquarters will be followed by a rapid decline in the favorable appeal of both candidates and it will result in an increase for McCain.

Thus, the only conclusion that can be made is one of a Negotiated Peace Settlement. Luck are we, that we have heard just last week that Hillary was instrumental in bringing Peace to Northern Ireland. We now can sit and watch the grown ups in the room make the tough decisions the current Administration failed to do...Make peace with our Enemies...

The time has come for the rubber to meet the road. We need to see the rhetoric move to action and the Symbolism find its Substance. We need Hillary and Obama to bring themselves to the big Mahogany Table with Claw feet and negotiate the Peace to save the Democratic Party.

If they cannot do it for the Party, at least think of the Children!

Obama's politics of Change is more of the same...

Barrack Obama likes to talk about Change from the politics of usual...the same bitterness of partisanship. He likes to point out that we need a candidate and President who will not look at teh Party platform rather look at solutions to bring the Nation together. Often his rhetoric is that the CHANGE we need is to distance ourselves from the way the Dems and GOP have played partisan politics for there gain and the Nations loss...breaking us down rather than bringing us todgether. His best Rodney King impersonation.

However, he has, in his short time, been rated by both Liberal and Conservative think tanks and publications as either the most liberal or nearly the most liberal member of the Senate. He has not worked in non-partisan circles to advance solutions rather he has played the role of pure partisan as a member of the Senate.

Obama's record is replete with partisan stances in issues of importance and real need for bi-partisanship. A look at his short Senate records shows a man who has sat in the far left seat of the Senate while John McCain has taken all the arrows from his conservative base to find that middle ground on issues Barrack holds to his Liberal and Politics as Usual role.

In fact, McCain not Obama represents the REAL reformer from the Politics as Usual. McCain has a record of working across the aisle and working to form bi-partisan coalitions on Campaign Finance, Immigration, Evironmental and Budgetary issues.

The Media has yet to bring out the facts on Obama's past and purely partisan behavior during his brief stint in the Senate. Additionally, Obama also proved weak-kneed while in the Illionis Legislature by voting 'present' rather than taking serious stands on important issues.

So if you want a REFORMER, a person who is not going look at someone's voter ID card before beginning cordial discussions, and who will reach across the aisle to solve the issues of our day, look no further than John McCain. If you are looking for a Candidate who has experience dealing with issues that require serious and sound judgement, one who has been tested under fire and has worked with whomever is needed to solve an important problem, HIS name is John McCain.

Baseball---how to save the game

Baseball has suffered under the leadership of Bud Selig, despite the gross revenues of the sport.

From the strike in 93, to the use of steroids and other performance enhancers, to inequities in salaries the sport has continued to lose the favor with the growing population of Americans. Yes, they have experienced great increases in revenue and profits, but they have lost a great many more that they could have had otherwise.

But how to fix it...

First, Baseball should accept the role Management played in the quite endorsement of Cheating by the players, under the willing but delightfully blissful eyes of the owners...So to fix it, the Owners should finance a campaign, a 15 year campaign to enter High Schools and little leagues all over the nation to explain the consequences of using performace enhancing drugs of all kinds. Fund this program for a generation of children to ensure the double message, of realativism is not allowed to subsist in baseball at any level.

Second, re-align the division inside each league based upon the payroll average of the last few years. We can assign the two previous years or a rolling average. The goal would be to allow clubs to keep all profits, no more profit sharing, but in liu of this...these clubs would have to compete on more equitably apportioned playing field.
The Yanks, Red Sox and other first market teams would allign the top division while the likes of the Royals and Rays would populate the more modestly spending teams. Likewise the the two leagues would then be split along a balance that spending no longer becomes the path to the playoffs, and it allows for fans everywhere to begin the next season with a reasonable expectation that the season is not lost before it even begins.

Finally, the players who have chosen to take products to enduce enhancement of performance that is not would suffer from the all important Astrick...***. Major League Baseball should include the * for all records accumulated from 1992 through 2006. By qualifying these years the players will see the product of their efforts not totally excluded just qualified.
Ulitmately, mabe the players would be enduced to police themselves for the sake of the records they seek to make over there careers.
By pointing out that records during this era cannot be fully from scrutiny we must therefore qualify the era as the performance enhanced era...allow them to enter the Hall of Fame, but under the same umbrella.
This tainted image will be left for all to see in the future but not exclude them from what they may have truly acheived without outside help. It will leave the mark without tarnishing the record allocation in the books.
Future players may be served by discourageing and not condoning the actions of teammates for the sake of personal glory, for the risk of the game.

I propsoe these three elements and reforms to be added to preserve and protect the game I loved as a child. realativism has not only creaped into our lives in school, work, family but also sports., and I propose we slam that door shut!

Obama rising--Symbolism over Substance

The meteoric rise of Obama has coincided with the realities found inside the Democratic Party today. People all over the nation are beginning to realize they do not want the Clinton's in the White House. The hangover of the Clinton years is have a heavy price and it is being seen by the heavy rush towards Obama. He represents the anti-Clinton vote as much as the willingness to accept his candidacy. This is not to say his message is not exciting and grabbing his audiences, rather it is to say that it has more to do with the Symbol of his campaign-CHANGE over the Substance of the Hillary campaign.

The SYMBOLISM of the Barrack Obama is of an exciting, young, enthusiastic well spoken man, who plays upon the LIBERAL and HUMANISTIC willingness to qualify the hope of us all to move past the racism of our past. Liberals in particular want to be able to say I voted for a Black Man for President irrespective of whether he is the best candidate. Obama, however, has shown to be a very good candidate, but one yet to be challenged due to his blackness.

The historic moment we are experiencing is also replete with problems. One of which is that we are seeing a FEAR in the media to really scrutinize his record thus far. The KIT gloves approach has allowed for him to be protected, and the attacks from the Clinton machine has appeared to be and depicted as smears.

The Media has left him alone, allowing for him to rise unabated. But Why?

Because they love to see there principles attained through a candidate they like, and Barrack is everything the liberal media likes, he fulfills there best hopes for America. Hence their reluctance to scrutinize his campaign and past. The media loves the SYMBOLISM of what Barrack represents to them and liberal America.

Whereas, Hillary embodies the sparks that ignited the Republican Revolution and the Bush years. She and her husband embody the SUBSTANCE of the corruption and the decline of ethics in the recent past. The things that most Americans hate about Washington is what the Clinton's are.

The SUBSTANCE of corruption in D.C. is what Americans want to distance themselves from, all the infighting and investigations that pepper the last decade and half. This is the Clintons, and people are tired of it everywhere.

So the Symbolism of Liberalism as it is found in Barrack Obama is winning the day against the Substance of the Clinton years...and people everywhere are accepting it. The willingness to see all roses and candy in the light of Obama's eyes is blinding the media and democrats, if it is necessary to separate the two, and propelling him to the pinnacle of politics.

All this Messianic anointing of Obama as the cure for all the ills of our past has allowed him to move through this usual gauntlet without the slightest of bruises. Obama has enjoyed the easiest run for President in any one's memory, all because he is a black man.

I ask what has Barrack accomplished in his 46 years? It is not his impressive list of accomplishments that have vaulted him to the center of the political universe, because they are neither impressive nor extra ordinary but rather because he is the embodiment of the what Liberals hold dear--Symbolism over Substance.

So this primary has become a case of Symbolism over Substance

Steroids, baseball and children

Today the Mitchell Report on Steroids in Baseball was released, inlcuding names of many of the most accomplished players of the last two decades. McGuire, Bonds, Roger C, and countless others were cited as having taken advantage of the quick edge in the use of Steroids and Human Growth Hormones...SO WHAT? Why should we care, and what is wrong with this edge verse using contact lenses, or just lifting weights?
Consider the lunacy to compare Drug Use to gain an advantage, that is harmful to the person, but provides a competitive edge with the commonalities of lifting weights, contact lenses or sun glasses. Silly, stupid and hardly worth of a response, but they will come in droves. Suffice it to say, they are not comparable and are not harmfull to the individual.

Well, Integrity comes to mind, Fairness comes to mind and Health comes to mind, along with Right and Wrong...oh and the kids.

First, Ingrity is the key to long term success. Once lost it will be difficult to gain back. Baseball and statistics have been an inseparable element of joy to millions. Being able to compare Ruth, to Mays to Whomever has been the basis of a great amount of love for the game. Comparing Cy Young with Bob Gibson or Koufax with Carlton has been the fodder over beer and coffee tables for decades...today it is lost. Hopefully not for good.
The Intgrity of the game goes to the value of the records, but not this alone. It goes to the veracity of honesty of competition and the value of effort over drugs.
The Culture of Corruption and Relativity that lives by the creed--'Whatever it takes' diminishes not only the games we play and watch but the values we draw from it.
We have not grown up to beleive in the Americana belief of Baseball as the All-American Game to have it so carelessly and cavalierly maligned by those who seek only personal glory.

Second, Fairness is a consideration. We enter the field of play, whether in T-ball, High School or the Pro's with a basic belief that we come with our shoes, gloves, bats and balls, along with our natural and practiced ability. Today, we cannot be sure that is all that is brought to the playing fields.
The lessons of youth include competition and these have been a building block of our society, or why does it(baseball and sports) belong in our Public School System. If Fairness and Integrity are not cornerstones of our Character Education, why is that we allow for Public Education to use presious funds on Sports, and baseball in particular.

Third, Health is a consideration in this matter. Perhaps the most import issue legal-wise for the League. Consider for a moment if the role of pressure placed upon the player by Management surfaced. The Players would rightfully have the argument that 'undue influence and pressure' has been exerted by Management to use preformance enhancing drugs to acheive franchise goals, placing and putting the players at risk.
This may or may not have occured, but the league needs and needed to address the Steroid/HGH issue for no other reason than to protect the individual teams and league, as awhole, from removing this potential threat to the Health of the players, and the game.
The Health of the player is a crucial consideration by the employer. Consider a Steel Mill allowing employees to not wear helmuts so they can be more productive, it is crazy.
In Baseball, when we look at contracts of 10 years 275 million is some extreme circumstances, isn't it an important consideration to view the health of the player.
But also consider the impact on the Youth and the reality of idol worship. Kids will wear there uniform number, the type of shoes Jordan wore, and would likely include the type of preformance enhancing drugs they use to hit 700 plus homeruns or 5500 plus stikeouts.

Fouth, Right and Wrong...This may be too obvious to have to discuss, but listening to the cadre of journalists and apologists for the conduct of players and the import of the usage, it has to be stated.
Life is not about doing whatever it takes to win or succeed. It is to do whatever is rightful and just to do to succeed and win. This lesson has been lost in much of our Character Education. Whether it is Bill Billicek, Bill Romanoski or Barry Bonds, they do all of us as parents and intermural coaches a disservice by living the me-first and win at all costs mentality.
Competition teaches kids, youth and adults a valuable life lesson---you will win and you will lose, but what matters is doing your best, or as a friend of mine likes to say, "Finish Strong", in all that you do!
Lastly, Baseball is just as cupable as the players who took these enhancing drugs and hormones. Far more inportant than gambling, this is an issue that challenges the believality of the game as an institution. Gambling cannot change a players abilities, only his input to results.

Let us hope this begins the National Healing and Cleansing of the Great American Game. I understand that Apple Pie is under scrutiny for its fat content.

Global Warming vs. Global Terrorism

We stand at a crossroads...does the Manufactured Media convince enough Americans that Global Warming is more dangerous than Global Terrorism. Can Al Gore and his minions lead enough people astray from the real challenges we face or do we stand and fight to protect Christian values here and abroad. Does the United States slip further into Socialism and accept the failed model of Old Europe and Cananda or do we stand of advancement and acheivement in medical science?

November 2008 is the test by which our nation will be judged by future generations. Can the people withstand the Manufactured Media, Hollywood, and Cultural Elite's onslaught of lies, distortions and fear mongoring. Can this Nation hold onto our foundational principles and remain a country that places Liberty and the Constitution over ACLU and liberal political correctness.

These two concepts of Global Warming and Global Terrorism are being played out through a media that portrays one as a fact and the other as a fiction. Yet, the Manufactured media gives full aplomb to GW it rarely gives equal import to the realities of Islamo-facism. Ignoring on one hand the abundant evidence that places into doubt the anthropogenic causes of the slight increase of 1.5 degrees of tempeture, at the same time placing upon its front page shoulders the missteps and challenges facing our effort in Global Terrorism. Escueing the threat so much that in many quarters it is no longer acceptable to say Global War on Terror, or challenging the very import of Iraq and its past abuses of Human Dignity.

The MM is so lopsided in this accord of integrity of journalism that they ignore the very words spoken by the same Democrats who whole heartedly supported this effort a short 5 years ago. They ingore the impact of Iran inside Iraq and ask for the mainstreaming of lies about Presidential powers and credibility all in the effort to discredit the War.

So today, we stand on the edge of a deep generational gulf, one that will lead us for decades...do we accept flawed science and ignore a real threat to chirstendom, or do we stand and fight to preserve Liberty of Thought, Sovereignty, and Religion?

Gore 'warming' up to a run for President

Al Gore is 'Globally Warming' to a run for the President. As his World Tour of Hotair Aid fizzled to poor attendence, weak star power and embarresing ratings, Gore realizes his religious cult of Anthropogenic Global Warming is beginning to leak out of his balloon.
Recent poll numbers show that Hillary still has ways to go, showing neg ratings at over 50% is some constituency groups. The new-kid-on-the-block Barrack Osoma has yet to be tested in the media but raises money like a tel-evangelist because the DEM donors realize the sand on which the Clinton White House hopes stand on, is loose. Edwards, the Cosmo Candidate, is possibly less equiped to be President than he is to be the host on America Has Talent.
So all this leaves the vast middle, the populist middle and the wacky fringe enviro-nuts open for the taking, enter the resounding refrain from the left...'Impeach Bush and Run Al, Run'.

You can almost hear the song being sung..."Divinity School Drop out"...can't you!
You shot your camera in Nam, you held the V.P in your Palm...You stood by the Commander-in-Chief waiting for your shot, took your case to the Court, but alas you were...A Divinity School Drop-out...but you found your religion...in the fears of all us swim'n...using Global Warm'n to scare the people to care.....telling them lies to convince that you were the prince....the only one who can take,....the Job from the Liar and Fake, Mr President, we want to impeach, the role you want always to reach....to be called Mr. President, instead of 'Divinity school Drop-out......

Gore has seen that the vacuum is ready for him to enter the fray, maybe October, or perhaps November...being able to raise money under the umbrella of Global Warming, he has amassed a fortune he can use to take the nominiation, and begin his fundraising in Feb or March.

Rest assure, his star power is at its height, he has never been more popular. His adoring fans and deep pocketed celebraty crowd want him to join the race, be the Man to save us from ourselves (the Sun, really).

If Al Gore doesn't enter the fray, I will be shocked and disapointed in the fact I was 100% wrong as it relates to his most desired goal...but we know his propensity to lie about anything, or is it ignorance?

This man will seek the Presidency, he cannot avoid being the star in his own thiller, his on documentary on the Man who save the world, no not Jesus, but Al Gore...Citizen Gore, the new Barnum, the purveyor of a sucker is born every minute personified.

Al Gore will run and it will end up being the Battle of Tennessee...GORE vs. Thompson...Senator vs. Senator, Hipocrite vs. Hipcrite (means actor too).

Who would have ever expected that Tennessee would become such an important place, vital, central to our future as a country...because the next President will preside presumably over the transformation of our Nation...the crash of Social Security, the looming Recession, the Global...(you thought I was going to say Warming, didn't you) War on Terrorism, the Medicare Crisis, the Possible Socialization of HealthCare and the dynamic changes that face our food supply while trying to rid ourselves of Middle Eastern oil...The Challenges that face the next President are possibly the most dounting challenges in the past 50 years...

Our country rests at the edge of a narrow ledge, in front lies a narrow gate that brings us to the promised land, while just below us, the wide gate is more easily reached, but the next leader of the Free World must choose....the Narrow gate or the Wide?

Does the next President face the challenges of Global Terrorism or Global Warming...you get to decide that course in November 2008!

On Scooter Libby, Gore 2008 and History

Scooter Libby is the victim of the ugliest form of politics, that which is played in the courts by motivated players. Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald prolonged an unnecessary investigation for reasons we can only characterize as political.
The net result is that the inside Baseball which was played out in the Courts resulted in Mr. I. Scooter Libby being punished beyond any reasonable sentence and adjudication. The story which leads us here is long, tediace and full of interesting turns and twists, but underlying all this is a vendetta against the VP office.

Gasoline Economics 101 (part 1 of 5)

GASOLINE ECONOMICS 101

What opportunists on the left don’t know about economics could fill textbooks…in fact, it does. They should try learning and applying Market Based Economics and reading some texts.

As the above illustration shows, Government, via taxes, accounts for as much and often more than Refining Costs and Profits in a gallon of gasoline sold at the pump. Yet, possibly most interesting, is that while in the early 1980’s most of the nations 350 refineries were owned by Oil Companies like Exxon, Shell, Hess and Mobil, today’s 153 refineries are own mostly by independent Refiners, not the large Oil Companies.

The Supply and Demand of Gasoline is largely an independent variable, uncontrolled by Oil Companies and subject to international political situations, so says the US SENATE REPORT found here…http://www.senate.gov/~gov_affairs/042902gasreport/sectioni.pdf

So what goes into the Supply of gasoline, let us discuss that because you understand the demand (just look at India and China, or the interstate).

Of course, you understand that the largest supplies of Crude Oil are in the Middle East and Russia, so international politics play a heavy role. While we do get 60% of our Crude from our hemisphere, we are still dependant upon the Middle East and OPEC. While Canada and Mexico are our most prolific suppliers, Venzuala also is a bigger supplier adding to our woes.

Yet despite this, the flow of Crude has remained very consistent. Though is adds to the price fluctuation of Crude on the market, it is but the first step. Crude must be refined into Gasoline and this has been a variable of great concern since the mid 1980’s. It was during this time the Major Oil Companies divested their interest in Refineries and reduced the number of operational refineries from 350 to 153 domestically.

We can produce roughly 17 Million barrels a day in the US, while our consumption is about 22 million barrels putting about 5 million shy of production. This puts us at the flux of the market.

This reduction has had a major impact on supply mainly as a response to the associated costs to refiners when Windfall Profits Taxes were pushed into law by Jimmy Carter and a Democrat Congress. When it became less profitable to manage a refinery due to taxes and this was coupled with Environmental interference, the Major Oil Companies found there way out of the refinery business. Though most of these companies still own some of the most profitable facilities, a large number are operated by other than the so-called Big Oil.

Ultimately this constriction in refining capacity has placed pressures upon the industry that have been exploited by natural disasters and geo-politics in recent years. Regular maintenance, Specialty blends due to regional and state requirements and home heating oil also play significantly into the overall supply at various points during the year. These variables have placed the greatest pressure in recent years exacerbating the general tightening of supply in the US.

While we have allowed politics to add another ingredient into the supply side of this equation environmental concerns have remained steady. The most recent addition to variables has been the government requirement to move away from the chemical additive and more heavily to ethanol. The ethanol replacement has taken up valuable storage that the additive had not.

Finally, with all the factors involved in production and refining of gasoline, it remains rather interesting that while the overall cost has gone up what appears to be like a rocket, the reality of the price as adjusted for inflation is rather flat(see chart below).

What remains to be done is to convince the left that speaking about energy independence while at the same time preventing the utilization of known and likely reserves in ANWR and OCS is disingenuous. We must build independence by utilizing those reserves we have in our midst.

We must understand that allowing ourselves to be fooled by those who would rather play politics with the costs associated with Gasoline and blaming these costs on excessive profits are playing the very worst game imaginable. It does not require a PHD to see that Government at both the Federal and State levels earn via taxes, often twice as much as Oil Companies off the same gallon of gas, without any of the risk.

Floridians pay about 51 cents in taxes while New Yorkers pay over 60 cents. Taxes are levied on every gallon of gas, irrespective of whether the companies involved were successful enough to make a profit or not. In the 1980’s when refining took the profit out of a gallon of gas, these taxes continued, even while the companies lost money.
So I ask you, who is doing the gouging?
Government Taxes and political opposition to developing domestic production capacity via ANWR and the regional waters off our coasts are our biggest gougers. They tell us we cannot become independent but tax us and blame Oil Companies to boot.

The time has come for American’s to wake up to energy politics. Learn the process by which we drive the open road, travel to Grandma Annie’s, and visit the ball park.

ABC has finally found an issue they feel should not be printed...

National Security?
No!

War Indiscreations?
No!

Spurilous attack on President Bush?
No!

Call of Racism by Sharpton?
No!

ABC decided not to print the names of people associated with a Call Girl ring...
Now that is over the line, asking us to print names of people who violated there marriage oaths and common decency, oh and a crime!

Does anyone want to bet that high profile Media elites and Democratic Politicians pepper the list along with, I am sure, a few Republicans...but I suspect it is peppered with the likes of the Media Elites and Democratic Power circles...

let us wait and see...but I bet I am more right than wrong...

Sandy Berger and TWA 800

It is clear the media is biased...
It is clear Sandy Berger was destroying docs for the purpose of protecting someone, or something.
It is clear it related to President Clinton, 9/11 and possibly the destruction of TWA 800.

Richard Clarke is the person who claims to have unearthed the middle fuel tank theory...and Berger is the person who orchestrated it...

Is the Gruden Era coming to a tragic end like a murder suicide or is it at the brink of success?

Can Gruden/Allen sew the seeds of the genus’ vision to the multitudes and into W’s, or has the gleam worn off?

Since the 2002 draft the BUC’S have drafted 44 players, of which 9 are starters ( 2 on D and 7 on O). 15 players are backups on this club while 15 are out of the NFL. It is not a shock to anyone that the BUC’S have not utilized the Annual Player Selection Process as it could have been used to improve the lot for this team.
Yet, what remains in their hands is the chance to utilize this Draft, coupled with the Fort Knox-like available Money to rebuild in one season this club, back into a Playoff Caliber team.

The Gruden led team has had 3 losing season’s in the past four…so what has needed to be fixed, has it been done, and can it be done in time to save this duo from the Free Agent market they so covet?

What is clear is that Jon Gruden and Allen have a lot riding on this Draft and the utilization of Dollars available to spend in Free Agency. To date, they have been under performing in both areas and the blame Richie motif is wearing very thin.
The test will come as it always does(for most clubs) for the Draft in the later rounds…the BUC’S have been near bottom in the league in finding Diamonds in the rough. The 2002 draft has exactly one player starting and 7 of the total 8 picks out of the NFL…this is a failure in scouting.
The last two drafts provided the BUC’S with 22 total picks, of which, we have currently 4 starters and 11 back ups, few potential starters are expected from this lot. What is most interesting is that of the 44 picks not a single Stud is among the group…those seven starters are Chris Simms, Cadilac Williams, Dan Buenning, Davin Joseph, Jeremy Trueblood, Jermaine Phillips, and Will Allen.

The Cadilac selection has turned out to be suspect. If you are selecting 4th, you must find a three down player…Cadillac’s inability to be a threat out of the backfield should have dropped his stock to the middle of the first round. Yet, the Offensive Genius ignored the stone-like hands and was so enamored by this player there were worries of a Governor McGreevy like announcement.
Michael Clayton was an example of a player, again, selected before his value. To date, blamed on injuries this player has had one good season, his first. Few teams expected him to go so high, unfortunately the BUC’S were one of them…Allen has been a vocal defender of their choices for the past several years, but the numbers in the Draft and the utilization on the roster tell a different story. Not one relevant pick on the second day has an impact on this team!

IN DEFENSE of the BUC’S drafting woes…
In defense of the Buc’s drafting woes on Defense is the fact that since even before the Super Bowl year, the Buc’s have lost coaches like they are socks in a dryer. Ultimately, this has changed the scope of Tampa 2 type players which had been the exclusivity of the Buc’s scheme to become the predominate Defensive scheme in Football today.
As a result, the Bears, Eagles, Rams, Jets and Lions have employed the Tampa 2…in 2000 it was the Rams who selected like the Buc’s, then the Jets (who have recent change to a 3-4) and then the Eagles and Bears, and now the Lions.
Several of our Scouting Department personnel have also left to man offices in St. Louis, Seattle and Chicago too…so for better or for worse we have been a depleted brain trust, which has left Gruden and Allen to think, evaluate and select and seemingly over-rule the hired scout staff.
It is not ironic that the selctions over the last several years have been players eyed and evaluated by Gruden and Allen at the Senior Bowl…do ya think?

Finally, The BUC’S have the longest DROUGHT at selecting future PRO BOWLERS…the last pro bowler selected via the annual player selection meeting was Ronde Barber in 1997…that is rather sad…interestingly, Cleveland is not inept at the draft, followed by…you guessed it Oakland…see any connections…let us hope Gruden/Allen have learned a thing or two?!

SO, what is needed to fix the BUC’S?

Jake Plummer or the rights to him is open for interest, possibly for a Draft pick.

2)… NEEDS

The Tampa 2 is built around speed and the ability to keep plays in front of the D, to penetrate and disrupt without blitzing, to drop 7 into coverage and bring the SS up on run downs, inside the box.
Like success in Baseball, the Tampa 2 also needs strength up the middle. As baseball has C, SS, 2nd and CF, strong up the middle, in the Tampa 2 it is the two DT’s, particularly the UT (Under Tackle), the MLB, WLB, and SS.
Not coincidentally, the BUC’s struggles coincide with the D struggles.

The fact is over the last many drafts, the D has been ignored…so much so that depth is weak and the production has slid to a point of crisis. Offenses sell tickets and D’s win championships

Cadillac and Clayton had terrific rookie years followed by lack luster seasons…Caddy ran for 3.5 per carry…Clayton is an underachiever at this point. Our woes on Offense are manly associated with weak and poor O line play, while our D play has declined due to age and production…

As such the teams needs are…

DT: Under tackle has been a sore spot since Sapp left due to Salary Cap issues. Hovan is a good player and mans the NT spot. McFarland failed to fill the need and Wyms just does not have the staying power…the help wanted sign reads, Quick, strong, gritty and penetrating DT to play the Under Tackle position in a Tampa 2 D, willing to assume the key role on the Defense. Must be willing to be disciplined and willing to take on two blockers while stuffing the run and rushing the passer…AKA superman. Seriously though, this is the key to the D, if this position fails, the D breaks down due to assignment allocations…1 gap responsibility! HOWEVER, the BUCS could consider moving Hovan to UT and drafting a bigger run stuffer type like Alan Branch instead of a UT type like Amobi Okoye. Kevin Carter, brought in FA is a player who can play both DT spots and DE in our D, giving the BUCS great flexibility in this draft…but he is 33.

SS: Since John Lynch left due to Salary Cap issues (sounds familiar) Phillips assumed this role, but has under preformed. Key to the middle of this D is the SS ability to be the enforcer across the middle in passing situations and to cover enough ground to let the corners to sit in the low zone. Tackling is a must, this last line of defense is the Johnny on the spot…he cannot break down or big plays will come. The Tampa 2 relies upon giving up small chucks of real-estate while protecting against the big play…missed tackles lead to big plays as does giving up the middle of the field. Landry would a great fit for this Safety friendly D scheme. Though several other options exist in this solid S draft…Weddle, Wendling, Rouse, Piscitelli, Gattis, Payne

MLB: 2nd round pick on 2005 is being expected to step in for Shelton Quarles AKA the ‘old man’. Yet, if anyone watched, he does not appear to be able to step in yet…he may never be the player they hoped he would be, an ample back up, but not the starter they envisioned. Quarles will be released because at his age (36) his value is highly questionable for the price…not to mention his ability to come off injury…so the need for an MLB who can eat up the tackles, be a sure tackler and be able to drop into coverage like a safety is now! The BUC’S LB’last year were known as old, older and legacy. Patrick Willis is an ideal fit for our D, but Justin Durrant, Quincy Black and Tim Shaw also fit nicely, but overall it is an average at best MLB draft.
Willis is my personal favorite…

DE: White was lost to FA and Spires did not play inspired. Rice was injured and has not yet fully recovered…could he even pass a physical if a trade were worked out. Rice and Spires are neither spring chickens, in fact, they are old for DE’s by NFL standards. Age, injuries and quality of play all proved too much to handle last year…the worst sack total since 1994. Help is needed to sure up the pass rush, and to add vital youth to this geriatric unit. Gaines Adams is simply the best DE in the draft, but he has work ethic issues and a bunch of quality behind him at DE in this Draft Class.

WR: Yes, the BUC’S failed two years in a row in the effort to fill the future needs via the draft. Though the grade is still not in on Stovall, the effort put forth over the last two years by Clayton have been woefully deficient. Galloway is aging and is playing above his injury prone past would indicate…time will catch up soon, depth is needed to find that replacement now, not to mention to add a quality PR and KR to the mix…in case you had not heard the BUC’S have not returned a KO for a TD yet…ever! 1825 tries, 0 TD’s. Calvin is the real deal, but it is a fairly good class with some intriguing return guys and combo WR/KR types. Regularly gems can be found in the mid and late rounds

LT: a Franchise LT is missing from this team…patches help, but they do not last. This team needs to be able to write the LT name in pen rather than pencil for the next 8 to 10 years…any takers? The safest pick in the draft is Joe Thomas, though not the sexiest. Like WR, it is not uncommon to find real quality in the mid rounds…see New England.

C: the BUC’S lost Sean Mahan in FA and are left with Wade who they wanted to replace last season, but were unable to do. The future at C needs to be drafted this season and groomed to play by years end. Talk has it that Jeb Terry needs to be the next Mahan and learn the position

QB: yes because Garcia, Plummer and Simms are not enough…well not for a Super Bowl team. You only have to look back over the last 40 years to seem the theme of the NFL…great teams have great QB’s…Manning, Brady, Farve, Aikman, Young, Montana, Bradshaw, Unitas et al…If you want to have lasting success, you must have that lasting successful QB…serviceable as they are they are not great. Kolb and Beck seem to fit our system best, but we are overloaded on salary and have Gradkowski, who needs to develop.

CB: Barber and Kelly are aging…slowing down and making fewer crucial plays. The future has to be found and taught the ropes as it was taught to Barber and Kelly…in the Tampa 2, trusting the system and playing the system are key to success…rookies rarely have that discipline, pining on the bench actually helps to mellow those risky tendencies of people used to being on that island. A good class of CB’s awaits a mid round selection by the BUCS, but who…Bennett, Young, Wright, Jackson or 2nd rounder Hughes?

3)… DRAFT PROSPECTS
Conventional wisdom and JON GRUDEN have all singled out one player the BUC’S will select on Saturday…but should they?
Later round alternatives are players that fit the BUCS…

CALVIN JOHNSON WR 6-5 239 4.37
Strenght of WR CLASS—B+
Why Calvin Johnson…boy is that a dumb question…a 239 pound WR with 40+ vertical leap, and runs a 4.39…he is a freak of nature who possesses amazingly soft hands and a feel for the game that is very rare…he is smooth and runs precise patterns. The only thing that kept GT from winning 12 games was the fact that Reggie Ball played in 11 of them. Any team would consider it a great deal if they only had one pick and it was Calvin, besides he has all the glitter without the showmanship or attitude. Oh, OK he did ‘experiment’ with weed…so is anyone seriously worried about this kids character? NO!

Why NOT Calvin Johnson…
1) In 50 years there has never been an MVP who was a WR.
2) Why spend that type of money on a 0% of being an MVP
3) Do the Math, even with 100 catches, that is only 6+ catches a game, hardly difference making impact
4) Who led last year, Andre Johnson, for a 6 win team…does not translate into victories
5) Historically, WR’s can be had in later rounds…See Colston etc.
6) Ask the Lions Matt Millen if he would pick a WR again in the top 10
7) Ask the Cowboys if TO was the answer to there team success?
8) WR is a deep position again in this years Draft…you can have patience, this is a very deep class…one or two maybe three 1st rounders but many 2/3/4ths.
9) CJ is not a KR/PR by nature, Figurs, Clowny or Higgins have the deep threat and PR potential

Why Joe… well you can arguably plug him in for the next 10 years and expect a few pro bowl appearances in that time…one word-Security! Great in the running game due to his ability to run block beyond the initial 5 yard scrimmage area…it would not be uncommon to see him utilize his athleticism and be 10 or 15 yards down field continuing to block. Equally strong upper body balances his efforts for either strong bull rushers or speed guys. Bucs have had success with OT’s from Wisconsin…would be a good fit for an improved running game and provide protection for young QB or slowing vet.
Why not Joe… DEEP DRAFT AT OT…Short Arms are usually a characteristic that drops a LT to the middle of the first, but his other tangibles have made this objection a bit less focused upon, but not any less important…well, this is a very deep OLT draft and you can likely find a quality LT in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Also, with the insurance of Luke Pettigout you can use the depth already on the roster and wait to the later rounds to select a small college LT which pepper the league… The best teams find gems in the middle rounds to fill needs across the line and utilize the second and third for LT’s. Finally, having watch his film, I did not see him finish a single block, no killer instinct, he is technician who wins the battle but rarely destroys his foe.

Strenght of DE CLASS----A
WHY GAINES…It is not a secret that Rice under preformed, as had everyone listed as a DE on the Buc’s roster. Sack totals were embarrassingly low. For the Tampa 2 to work, pressure must come from the edge and underneath. Needing to blitz to create pressure breaks the integrity of this standard D. Gaines has good burst off the line, a sound tackler and athleticism and strength to compete at the high level needed from a WDE. Gaines could be a good replacement for Simeon, they have many similar traits coming out…tweener’s who could be suited for OLB in 3-4 if they could drop in coverage better…but neither had played that role in College. Hence, you look to them as a speed rusher who must work in the weight room to combat lack of size. Very productive as a pass rusher, who possesses several NFL caliber rush moves. Could replace Simion without much notice.
WHY NOT GAINES…somewhat one dimensional…has not shown the ability to play the run consistently. Running at him, runs over him, not solid at point of attack. Not a high character guy with the lunch pale mentality, could struggle being an adult and bringing it every down. Is he a take the money and run kind of guy? With these intangible questions it may be wise to wait until the second to address this need in this strong DE class. Risk is too high for the potential reward considering the amount of talent in DE class. Besides, the BUC’S feel pretty good that they have a DE, Charles Grant, willing to come after this next season…so need is not as great as it may appear on the surface.

Why Patrick…built for the Tampa 2, he is tackling machine. High Character guy who is a hard worker, very smart and humble (Derrick Brooks like). His speed and athleticism fit into the Tampa 2 very well and his consistent play molds well into the NFL game. Violent hitter who explodes into tackles, and moves from sideline to sideline well. Awesome instincts for the position, and has a nack for fining the ball carrier. Since of all the NEED positions have deeper draft classes, this would be the best pick for the BUC’s
Why not…He does not drop into coverage as well as the Tampa 2 would like, but he does posses the skills to do so, but has shown some trouble in that area. He can get caught up in traffic at times, which will come into play more in the NFL.

Why Brady…I will ignore the ND factor and only focus upon the facts, yet an important fact is that he has tutored under Charlie ‘I make seventh round picks, 3 time Super Bowl winners’ Weis. Seriously though, a four year starter you has played in more important games than half the NFL starters already. Ignore all the Passing Records he has accumulated at ND, and look only at the pressure he has faced, he is ready for the NFL. Strong Armed and can throw all passes in the arsenal. Brings his A game when it is needed, steps up, and does not look phased by pressure. He has good sense of the rush and is mobile enough to buy time and run when necessary. He is leader who understands the importance of staying calm. Yet, what places Brady at the top of the Class at QB is his maturity and work ethic, he is a tireless worker and a character guy, through and through…future Pro-bowler and 10 year starter. Gruden would love to have a QB that can think like him on the field and Brady can…uses the Runningbacks like the WC likes too.
Why not Brady…he can be slow starter and miss passes early in games…takes time to warm up sometimes. Brady has a tendency to be off target particularly on passes early in games, long ball more frequently. System guy, maybe…needs a coach who he can communicate with

Why LaRon…possibly the best athlete in the draft, less a guy named Johnson. Does not get fooled and can recover if he does with great speed. He is sound tackler, not a grabber but he wraps people up…sometimes willing to lessen his hit to ensure the tackle is made. Plays a Tampa 2 style run defense who can bring a pounding. Would provide immediate help for the Buc’s at a position that has been struggling in the past 3 years.
Why not…he has problems catching the ball sometimes…balls others would not have gotten to, he does, but drops. Needs to be a better centerfielder and play the ball. Tends to be a little cocky, but also tends to back it up…sometimes disappears in games

Strong, quick and agile for a Defensive Tackle…did I just describe Sapp. Lost weight to play better, and at such a young age can add it naturally…only 19. Can take up space and has good use of his hands…Ideally made for the UT position favored by the BUC’S…
Why not…can be stood up and left out of the play…his youth can play against his maturity…must come to terms with age issue. Could take time develop due to age. Fluctuation of weight could lead to problems…but no substantive problems from his game.

The lack of, and declining production of the D over the last several years is directly associated with the AGE issue. A Defense reliant upon speed and quickness is especially susceptible to declining production as a result of age.

Like millions of Americans every four years I look forward to watching the Olympics and rooting for the great amature athletes who will partake in them. I have never supported the use of professional athletes and have take much pride in the fact that our amatures usually show very favorably against other nations pro's.

These Torino 2006 games have been very disappointing for me.
No not because we have not lived up to expectations, rather because of the attitudes and personalities of our(or atleast many) of our athletes.

Bode Miller leads the list of the 'usual suspects' but it does not end their...I wish it did.
Several of our younger, new sport, athletes used the opportunity to show off as it were and lost gold as a result---good for them.
Hendrick and his fued with another US Skater and then his cockiness which lost him the gold in the 10,000 was disgraceful.
The skating relay team and its fued was a mighty low point.

Our US hockey team only securing a tie with Latvia...yes latvia...about the size of NY CITY.

Our hopes have been dashed by attitudes which I can only describe as the poverty of affluance...don't get me wrong I was rooting for each and every one, but I am not surprised they lost...

what has been on display too much were the efforts of UGLY AMERICANs instead of hungry respectful and proud American's...let us hope our nezt foray into Olymipic endeavors will be a prideful one

Politics, Ports and Vetos

The approval by the Bush Administration to allow for the sale of 6 or 7 US Cargo Terminals on the eastern half of the US to a UAE owned company has sent tempers, politcs and Presidential power into overdrive.
Dubai Ports World a port managment company has come to terms with Peninsular and Oreiental Steam Navigation CO. to buy the rights to 6 or 7 ports in the US. The Bush Admin has, through the Committee on Foreign Investment, approved the deal to go through and allow the transfer of ownership. The CoFI is a body composed of 12 governmental agencies ranging from Treasury, Defense and Commerce to Homaland Security---they have given the thumbs up on the ownership transfer.
This deal will include up to 30% of the terminals at the 6 or 7 ports in question, not total control of these ports as implied in the MSM.
Possibly most importantly is the fact that this is a Managment contract not a security contract.

The Security of these ports remains and shall always remain the domain of the US COAST GUARD and HOMELAND SECURITY. Should any problems occur, they are to blame if security is non sufficient to meet the challanges ahead.

Yet, the Media, the Left and even many Republican's have found so-called religion in this matter. The Media and the Left are piping up claiming Security is at stake---yes all the while demanding we close Gitmo, pull out of Iraq and stop the NSA EAVESDROPPING---but this, selling a Managment Contract to the UAE and global business is where they draw the line. TYPICAL DEM AND LEFTIST HYPOCRISY

Yet not to be out done, many GOPers have feared the political backlash and flown the logic-coop. Lindsay Graham and others have shied away from logic to politics. This is disgraceful by the GOP and allowing an issue to show the ugly side of politics.

Yet, even President Bush is showing too much interest in this, threatening a veto if Congress challanges and tries to prevent the sale. President BUSH has fiddled while Washington has burned in excess spending, never vetoing a spending bill. Finding Religion now is an insult to true-blue conservatives. Spending his political capital on the UAE, no matter how strong of an ally they have been in the War on Terror is an insult to those of us who have faught for SS reform, Tax Cuts and Sound Fiscal Policy.

So there we have it, the DEMS and LEFT have played election politics to try to prove they are tough on Terrorism, but only when UNION jobs are at stack. The UNIONS fear the modernization of ports, which would lead to streamlined and more effecient methods of Port service, which translates potentially into fewer jobs---hence the newly found Patriotism by the likes for Moscow Hilliary and Red Ted Kennedy, Nancy the Tito Pelosi and the rest of the DEM crowd.

The GOP fears the political backlash and thus shows the courage of the cowardly lion in OZ. Forget the facts, forget that security is the role of the US GOV't and forget that we are the party of Business...oh and forget that it has already been vetted by those who should know best. The people we pay to monitor these very issues, not the politicians, but the bureacrats in D.C. who should be the vetters fo this did and have approved it.

The President is showing too much interest in this case, to his political embarrasment. Certainly the UAE has stepped up as the first nation to accept our added security requirements from overseas to monitor cargo, sure they were the first to step up in the Arab world to aid IRAQ training, our troop movements and assist us in the WAR on TERROR. Forget all the good they have done...focus just for a moment on the Presidents motive to aid the ally in hte region. Smart no, necessary yes! He should not have stacked so much credibility on it, nor should he have offered the threat of a veto...when he has never used it for more important issues.
He is losing his base for the over extension of his reach. He should fight for it, but only back channel wise, not from the pulpit of the Presidency.

Finally, if the UAE was intent on using our ports to attack us via the TERROR network they risk allignating themselves like no nation has ever done. Terrorists have many ways to access us, to go through a ligit company and weaken the very openings they do have by exposing a more difficult route is not only unwise but a waste of limited resources.

This deal is good for long term jobs and commerce which will be the medicine needed to inaculate muslims from turning to wahabism in the future...profits will win the war on Terrorism...jobs will win the poort over.

Finally, always worry when the DEMS show support for the WAR on TERRORISM...they are like 3 day old fish and guests...they both stink!

Morally the Holocaust is one of the four worst actions taken in the 20th Century, along with the Stalin purges of the Soviet Union, the Pol Pot Cambodia attacks against educated people, and Maoist killings of everyone in China. Yet, can we reasonalby accept laws to criminalize idiot thought?

Though, certainly we cannot compare the two it does not dimmish the absurd reality that Austria and Germany are acting irrationally.

Criminalizing behavior doesn't prevent it, and jailing people for what they think instead of actions they take risks sympothies from non-supporters. Allowing David Irving to be martyred by his jailing is far worse then allowing his idiotic views to be debated in the sunshine. "Sunshine is its own disinfectant"!

An Emory University professor successfully debated and won a case agaisnt mr. Irving and allowing such debates to occur further to discredit his irrational thoughts.

Though they are not equivelent, they are both wrong...denying the reality of Holocaust and Jailing those who argue against the Holocaust are both tragedies!

Katrina's lesson lost on LIB's

President Bush has missed nearly every opportunity to shrink the size of government, thus allowing the left to characterize him as a 'big government conservative'. The President has expanded the federal role in nearly every area of our lives, and he missed the greatest opportunity to back out of that path with Hurrican Katrina.

Katrina demonstrated the most demonstable example of big governments ability to deliver point of service effeciently-they can't!

The lesson of Katrina is no matter how important the task or dire the circumstance, big government is the problem not the solution as Reagan said. While the idea of centralized control of the spokes of the federal wheel on Homeland Security is a wonderful idea and not all liberal in the security sense, it fails nearly everytime in the delivery attempt.

As conservatives have contended for decades, point of service is far more affective when done at a more local level. Local city, county or village deliver services better than State, and the State delivers usually better than the Federal Government.

What Katrina should show us, and does if you read the report, is that the Federal response was not better than the local and State response--which this time was bad on their levels as well.
Liberals should take notice that despite all the good intentions in the world, the response was woeful. Surely this is why the left and DEMS have focused upon the President and alleged racism rather than the inate inefficency of government--this despite the fact that it was a black mayor who ignored the buses and a Dem Governor who failed to respond and officially request assistance of NG troops.

Certainly this will not disuade the left and the DEMS from supporting additional large government ideas...and it appears not to dissuade BUSH from doing the same. The Prescription Drug Medicare dosage offered by this WH could help to limit the great benefits of leadership offered by Bush by posterity.

The failings of Big Government reside in the belief that somehow they know better and bureacracy can deliver timely. Reality is such that all need to come to realize the brillance of the 10th amendment...the power of the people.

Yet instead of understanding the lesson of Katrina-that big government is not the solution to community issues--the left believes that it is the boogie man King George that is the problem. Sadly, this is partially right, as long as George Bush believes that government can be efficent he too is offering some bad Ideas. President Bush should become the first President to scrap a bad Idea---Kill Prescription Drug benefits added to Medicare--Lessen the burdent of the Fed on Education and free us from burdensome Campaign Finance regs, Free us from Sarbanes Oxley, free us from a 2.77 Trillion budget!

Yet, again, LIBS can not see that big government is driving us to this cliff of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The cliff that these three alone are an albatross on the necks of the young!
Katrina showed that despite the best of intentions government is not the solution. People lived in New Orleans and lived in areas eventaully flooded because of tax payer dollars dolled out to allow them to live there...yes it was a government disaster but it took root long before Bush...Bush may have some bad 'big government conservative' tendencies but his offset of this by SS reform ideas make him a far better leader than any Dem...not to mention his vision filled leadership on Terrorism...the Constitutional role of government!

Why the Steelers will be SUPER

They are 9-2 this year on the road and Cowher wants to go into this game with the same us against the world mentality.
Seatle is a respectable 5-3 on the road and has a great running game. Hasselbeck is a fine thrower and plays well in the modified WC system. However the real reason the Seahawks will be in Detroit is because of the solid play of the D.
As a result this game will prove to be a slugfest.
Turnovers will be the winning factor for the next Champ.

Big plays will not be the norm in this game excluding the big turnover.

Yet the game will be decided on two fronts; QB play and the running game.

The STEELERS will not throw unless they have too and the HAWKS will also try to grind it out. Boring on the surface, but just wait to see the interior line play.

In games won/lost on the running game, the tackling will be the key to the effectiveness of the game.

The World was changed for evermore on this date in 1981. Ronald Wilson Reagan was sworn in by Chief Justice Burger and assumed the role as President of the United States.
In short order the world was changed.
On the very day he was inaugerated, the hostages held by extremists in Iran freed those hostages after 444 days in captivity. They feared a strong response from the newly sworn in President--rightfully so!
Since that day the US has experienced unprecedented growth. Only 15 months over the last 25 years have been in recesion. This can be attributed to the Reagan economic revolution that was ushered in under his leadership.
By cutting TAX RATES and lowering Taxes the US economy has experienced growth on a massive scale over the last quarter century.
By deregulating the economy the reigns were taken off, allowing for the growth that spawned a technological revolution.
By challanging the Soviet Union to keep up with our re-emphsis on Defense Spending we crippled the centralized economy of the Evil Empirer.

The Reagan Revolution was three pronged...
1) Lessen the burden of Government on the American People
2) Lessen the burden of Government on the US Economy
3) Champion Freedom around the globe through strong and forceful measures

Still Morning in America
Reaganomics, 25 years later.

Twenty-five years ago today, Ronald Reagan was inaugurated as the 40th President of the United States promising less intrusive government, lower tax rates and victory over communism. On that same day, the American hostages in Iran were freed after 444 days of captivity. If the story of history is one long and arduous march toward freedom, this was a momentous day well worth commemorating.
All the more so because over this 25-year period prosperity has been the rule, not the exception, for America--in stark contrast to the stagflationary 1970s. Perhaps the greatest tribute to the success of Reaganomics is that, over the course of the past 276 months, the U.S. economy has been in recession for only 15. That is to say, 94% of the time the U.S. economy has been creating jobs (43 million in all) and wealth ($30 trillion). More wealth has been created in the U.S. in the last quarter-century than in the previous 200 years. The policy lessons of this supply-side prosperity need to be constantly relearned, lest we return to the errors that produced the 1970s.

The heart and soul of Reagan's economic agenda were sound money (making the dollar "as good as gold," as Reagan used to put it) and lower tax rates. On monetary policy, Reagan has won a resounding victory. Today, nearly all economists agree with Reagan's then-controversial belief that the sole purpose of monetary policy should be to keep prices stable. Double-digit inflation is a distant memory unlikely to recur anytime soon.
On tax policy, Reaganomics has also carried the day, if somewhat less completely. Tax rates in the U.S. are on average half as high now as they were in the 1970s, and almost every nation has followed the Reagan model of lower tax rates. Even Bill Clinton only dared to raise the top marginal income tax rate back to 39.5%, not 50% or 70%.

Nonetheless, tax cuts still stand in disrepute among most of the media, academics and Democrats in Congress, albeit for shifting reasons. When Reagan proposed his 30% across-the-board tax-rate cut, his critics howled that this would cause demand to rise and lead to hyper-inflation. In fact, supply rose faster than demand, and inflation fell to 4% from 13% and has fallen even lower since. When the economy went into a deep recession in 1981-82, Reagan's adversaries (and some of his own advisers) declared his tax cuts a failure. Reagan said stay the course, and the moment the final leg of the tax cut took effect, in January of 1983, the economy roared to life with an expansion that lasted more than seven years.

When the budget deficit rose in the mid-1980s, the liberals warned that if Reagan would not raise taxes interest rates would skyrocket. He didn't and rates didn't. After the 1987 stock market crash, liberal John Kenneth Galbraith wrote that "this debacle marks the last chapter of Reaganomics . . . and the irresponsible tax cuts." Again, Reagan refused to buckle, and two months later the stock market recovered and the expansion roared on--an expansion that didn't end until George H.W. Bush reversed course and raised taxes in 1990.

The Gipper's critics have written an economic history of the 1990s that they portray as a repudiation of Reaganomics. In this telling--known as Rubinomics--the Clinton tax hikes of 1993 ended the budget deficit, which caused interest rates to fall, which produced the boom of the mid- to late-1990s. In fact, the budget deficit hardly fell at all in the immediate aftermath of the tax hike, and while long-term interest rates fell in 1993, they shot back up again in 1994 almost precisely through Election Day (rising by some 230 basis points from October 1993 to November 1994).
On that day, voters repudiated the Clinton tax hikes and the specter of HillaryCare and gave Republicans control of Capitol Hill to govern on the Reaganite agenda of lowering taxes and shrinking runaway government. Both the stock and bond markets turned upward precisely on Election Day in 1994, beginning a whirlwind six-year rally. By 1998, growth and fiscal restraint delivered a budget surplus for the first time in nearly 30 years. In 1997 President Clinton signed a further reduction in the capital gains tax, which propelled investment and the stock market to even greater heights.

The latest chapter of this story is the 2003 income and investment tax cuts enacted by the current President Bush. As in 1981, opponents insisted those tax cuts would harm the economy by increasing the deficit and driving up interest rates. Al Jazerra brought out the latest bin Laden audio tape yesterday. Much can be drawn from the timing and much can be drawn from the audio itself. Yet, possibly the most interesting part is that it seems the only group in the world that does not connect our efforts in Iraq to the War on Terrorism is the Democrat Party.

Al Jazerra, the media arm of the jihad, decides when to release bin Laden's messages when they are delivered to them. They chose to release this one just after it was deterimined that the key bombmaker for bin Laden was killed in our drone attack on a party in Pakistan last week.
In the Audio the certainly beleaguered bin Laden tells us that he is in serious trouble...but more, he places clear connection with Iraq and Terrorism.
It would seem the only group in the world who denies this connection stands here in the name of the Democrat Party.

The Democrats have decided that they hate President Bush more than they love the Country. They have chosen to attack our efforts in Iraq, call for retreat, ignore the remarkable success of 3 elections and embolden the terrorists all in one swift swoop.

Most recently that have chosen to attack an NSA eavesdropping program designed to discover terrorist plots before they happen. The Liberal and Democrat concern is not our civil liberties, though they are trying to use that umbrella, rather it is any issue that they can piggy back into the White House and to attempt to discredit Bush.

The clear ease at determining the goals of the Dems is simply becuase if they were concerned about this issue they would not have waited this long to address it.
First, they had several years from September 2001 until December 2005, yet never uttered a concern.
Second, they along with the DNC national newspaper, the New York Times, defended the Echelon program during the Clinton years---which was a far broader effort and undertaking.

Thirdly, they enjoy any opportunity to try to characterize the President as overreaching or power hungry.

Finally, the fact that more than 50 months have come and gone with not a single attack on the US shores, or an attack on US interests of any significance is startleing considering the odvious efforts being pushed by AQ and its allies.
This NSA issue is a smoke screen to attempt to discredit President Bush...too bad the American people support his efforts it was an interesting try.

Education of the worst kind (choice vs Unions)

The Democrats and Teachers Unions have been fighting for years against the children of America. Even worse than that, they are fighting hardest against minorities and inner city children.
In a recent Florida Supreme Court (FSC) decision the majority overturned a limited voucher program(Opportunity Scholarships on the grounds that the program did not meet State Constitutional muster on the basis that the funding did not meet a "uniform,...high quality". Yet on those grounds, the government schools fail abysmally.
Ironically, it was a grouping of the NEA, ACLU, NAACP and the DEMOCRAT PARTY OF FLORIDA that worked together to get the Opportunity Scholarships rejected by the State Supreme Court. Yes, the same NAACP which was designed to "Advance" the plight of Colored People or African Americans.
The net result in education is that the Teachers Unions care only about the teacher and not a lick about the student. They spend millions of confiscated dollars (from teacher's union dues) to stop, delay, and prevent choice or voucher programs to be implimented around the country.
Ulitimately the people who lose in this fight are the students themselves and most notably minorities. The NAACP does not support efforts to improve the conditions and challenges faced by minorities.

Without competition the poor and educationally disadvantaged will be subjected to an ever increasingly poor product. If the Teachers Union only cares about Teachers pay and benefits, and the parents have no choice on where to send thier children, the educational disconnect will only widen.
Accountability is the only tool to improve conditions for students. Money has shown to be a useless measure of success. In the last 5 years Federal spending has doubled and total spending has done likewise over the last 30 years, yet results have only declined.
Accountability can be acheived through choice or vouchers. We should no longer require land owners to pay taxes and have not a hope of deciding how it is spent. We spend more than any other nation in the world yet we test out at 25th...socialism in education needs to be replaced with market reforms before another generation is lost to the malidy of socialism--uninspired education.

Today, should mark the celebration of not just Dr. Martin Luther King day, but should mark the contributions of all Civil Rights leaders and participants. Civil Rights, in fact, may owe its success not to those leaders but to those named and unnamed ordinary joe acitivists. Dr. King believed in lifting people up, not self glory. He was a rare hero of the masses who cared for something greater than himself. He stood with his fellow man, not on their shoulders...he would not have wanted to slight all those who helped to deliver civil rights, rather he would have prefered to stand along side them.

The most interesting and sad aspect of this line of questioning by Kennedy is that the article he cited was a Satire piece not a bigoted article. It was Satire, but Kennedy would rather bleive the worst about conservatives, because he does believe the worst about conservatives.
I will not even go into his reading comprehension skills, because he did go to Harvard, oh that was until he was kicked out for cheating...did I mention that?

Ironically, Teddy belonged to the Owl Club at Harvard. The Owl Club, long reviled at Harvard as "sexist," was evicted from the campus in 1984 for violating federal anti-discrimination laws authored by Kennedy. Kennedy was paid up to date with respect to membership ($100) and had updated his personal information as recently as September 7th 2005. So Again Senator Kennedy is a large, round hypocrite!

The mainstream U.S. media outlets have failed to report a major terrorist plot against the U.S. - because it would tend to support President Bush's use of NSA domestic surveillance, according to media watchdog groups.
News of a planned attack masterminded by three Algerians operating out of Italy was widely reported outside the U.S., but went virtually unreported in the American media.

Italian authorities recently announced that they had used wiretaps to uncover the conspiracy to conduct a series of major attacks inside the U.S. Italian Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu said the planned attacks would have targeted stadiums, ships and railway stations, and the terrorists' goal, he said, was to exceed the devastation caused by 9/11.

Italian authorities stepped up their internal surveillance programs after July's terrorist bombings in London. Their domestic wiretaps picked up phone conversations by Algerian Yamine Bouhrama that discussed terrorist attacks in Italy and abroad.

Italian authorities arrested Bouhrama on November 15 and he remains in prison. Authorities later arrested two other men, Achour Rabah and Tartaq Sami, who are believed to be Bouhrama's chief aides in planning the attacks. The arrests were a major coup for Italian anti-terror forces, and the story was carried in most major newspapers from Europe to China.

"U.S. terror attacks foiled," read the headline in England's Sunday Times. In France, a headline from Agence France Presse proclaimed, "Three Algerians arrested in Italy over plot targeting U.S."

Curiously, what was deemed worthy of a worldwide media blitz abroad was virtually ignored by the U.S. media, and conservative media watchdog groups are saying that is no accident.

"My impression is that the major media want to use the NSA story to try and impeach the president," says Cliff Kincaid, editor of the Accuracy in Media Report published by the grassroots Accuracy in Media organization.

"If you remind people that terrorists actually are planning to kill us, that tends to support the case made by President Bush. They will ignore any issue that shows that this kind of [wiretapping] tactic can work in the war on terror."

The Associated Press version of the story did not disclose that the men planned to target the U.S. Nor did it report that the evidence against the suspects was gathered via a wiretapping surveillance operation.

Furthermore, only one American newspaper, the Philadelphia Inquirer, is known to have published the story that the AP distributed. It ran on page A-6 under the headline "Italy Charges 3 Algerians." The Inquirer report also made no mention of the plot to target the U.S. - although foreign publications included this information in the headlines and lead sentences of their stories. Nor did it advise readers that domestic wiretaps played a key role in nabbing the suspected terrorists.

One obvious question media critics are now raising: Did the American media intentionally ignore an important story because it didn't fit into their agenda of attacking President George Bush for using wiretapping to spy on potential terrorists in the U.S.?

"It's clear to me," says AIM's Kincaid, "that they're trying their best to make this NSA program to be an impeachable offense, saying it is directed at ordinary Americans. That's why they keep referring to this as a 'program of spying on Americans' - whereas the president keeps pointing out it's a program designed to uncover al-Qaida operations on American soil."

In the effort of prevent war or discredit the Bush Administration and US INTEL in the lead up to the Iraq War several parties took unprecedented action to fulfill their goals.

First,
France, who liberals like to lay claim as an ally, according to testimony from Rocco Martino, was the creator and financier of the forged Niger documents. According to Martino, it was the French who paid for his services to peddle these documents to unwitting Foreign Intel services. The effort was an attempt to sting, first the Clinton then the Bush interest in invading Iraq.

France, also has their fingers all over the Aluminum Tubes that had more recently been discredited. Yet, we come to find out that the CIA was given certain assurances from French INTEL that the Tubes could in fact be used not just for missile casings but were certainly conditioned for Centrifuge enrichment of uranium.

The French connection effort to tell both President Bush and SoS Powell that they planned to support the UN resolution and then on the day of the vote they pull the rug from under Powell.

In all, France created false INTEL to discredit US INTEL, Lied to US INTEL and to both the US President and SoS Powell. All this in an effort to protect Saddam Hussein and Iraq.

Second,
The CIA having already verified the documents as forgeries decided to ask a former Clinton Administration political appointee, at the bequest of his wife, to go to Niger to investigate the already understood veracity of the documents. The CIA by any independent assessment was up to something, but what. Well, in hindsight it is rather clear that the effort, again, was to cast doubt upon the rational for war.
As the President stated in his now famous 16 words, "British Intelligence" has confirmed that Iraq sought enriched uranium from an African nation. Ironically, Joe Wilson helped to prove this fact rather than disprove it. His so-called investigation turned up corroboration that Iraq had indeed sought to purchase from Niger, in particular, enriched uranium as recently as 1999.

The CIA allowed Joe Wilson to write about his Niger trip, never asking him to sign a confidentiality agreement...highly unusual, so much in fact no one can find another example of such an incident.

In fact, the CIA usually needs to be sued by a former agent to get a book published in the time frame requested by the author. Yet, in a historical first, the agency allowed an existing agent to publish a book in record time while still on the payroll...one claiming Administration missteps.

The fact is, that the Agency has been trying to distance itself from political heat from the left, so much so that it has been helpful in a plot to discredit the Administration.

The CIA is showing signs of an out of control bureaucracy. Then Director Tenet tells the President that a "Slam Dunk" case existed with regards to WMD's inside Iraq. All the while, underlings in the Agency began a campaign to weaken the case for war.

THIRD,
The political class of the Democratic party in the House and Senate have orchestrated a campaign of lies, distortions and amnesia. Senators and Congressmen on the INTEL committees who have access to the very same INTEL have grown forgetful of what they read a short three years ago when they all supported the Resolution to go to War.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller went even further and told Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, in 2002, that Bush planned to go to war against Saddam. This same Senator claimed to see INTEL supporting the belief that Iraq possessed both illicit Chemical, Biological and Nuclear weapons but also programs for production and development. This Senator voted for the Resolution, but today claims he was lied to by the President.

Despite two Administrations having seen the evidence and making public claims pronouncing the illegal efforts by Iraq and offering Congressional Resolutions against the nation of Iraq, the left has began a campaign of amnesia.

All Clinton National Security officials are on record of belief and support of an effort to remove Saddam Hussein because of weapons and programs of Mass Destruction, yet today they play politics while a nation is at War.

The Democrats have decided it is more important to weaken the War effort for politics at home than to support the troops and the cause they voted for 3 years ago.

David Kay and Mr. Duefler(sp) both site example after example of compartmentalized programs of research and planning for the creation of WMD's. Two Senate investigations have shown similar results, yet the Left would rather play politics of distortion than politics of unification of effort.

Fourthly,
the MEDIA has trumpeted the case on behalf of the Democrats rather than to focus upon the truth. The MEDIA (MSM) has steadfastly avoided providing the American people the extent at which France went to undermine our efforts. The extent France went to supply Saddam Hussein with war materials in violation of the 17 prior UN Resolutions. The MSM
has routinely avoided providing listings of munitions, weaponry and other illicit materials found inside Iraq, certainly procured from RUSSIA, FRANCE, CHINA and NORTH KOREA which in and of itself would lay claim to nearly universal violations by many nations of the UN Resolutions.

Additionally, the MSM has repeatedly refused to show the elements of government reports that show WMD programs, research, and development sited by Duefler. The MSM is guilty of Cherry Picking information to discredit rather than to support the war in Iraq.

The vastly important addendum to the Duefler report that lays claim that (he) cannot rule out WMD's being moved to Syria.

The MSM has avoided at all costs the findings we have made with regard to WMD's including...
*1.77 tons of Enriched Uranium
*1500 gallons of Chem. Agents suitable for WMD's
*17 shells with Cyclosarin purchased by a Pol Gen avoiding their passage into the black market
*1000 powdered Chem. materials suitable for usage in dirty bombs and Chem. Weapons.

The MSM has avoided at all costs the litany of contacts pre 2003 between agents of the Iraqi regime and Terrorist organizations. Books have been written sitting the too numerous to list accountings of known meetings. Yet the MSM cannot devote one article to this mountain of information.

Finally, the efforts by the left in the US, coupled by the Government of France, the CIA and the Mainstream Media have shown an exceptionally large deceitful undertaking.
Certainly the CIA is not an anti Administration agency, however elements within are territorial and protective and have agendas wholly different than that of the Bush Administration.
At the very minimum, the CIA, Sen. Rockefeller and the actions of France need to be investigated and disclosed via the duplicitous MSM to the people of this nation. Yet, that is like asking Barry Bonds to act as the spokes person against Steroid use in Baseball...it ain't going to happen.

Windfall Profits

A bad idea resurfaces…

Senators Byron Dorgan and others, including Hillary Clinton, have begun the effort to resurrect the failed policy of ‘Windfall Profits Tax’ from the ash heap of history. Much of our problems today related to limited supply of gasoline, after the mess left in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, could be traced back to the failed idea of the Carter Administration of ‘Windfall Profits Tax’. The media and political assault upon ‘Big Oil’ stems from the perception that, for example, Exxon/Mobil’s 9.9 billion dollar third quarter profit is gross and proof of gouging by the Oil Company. Put into perspective you might begin to agree that gouging is indeed going on, but blame may rest elsewhere.

In the case of Exxon/Mobil it is important to see the whole picture before we call for a 50% tax on what the government sees as excessive profits. Most important to understand, in this instance, is that the 9.9 billion in profits only represent 9.9% of revenue for Exxon/Mobil.

First, consider that the 9.9 billion in 3rd quarter profits will already be taxed at 35%. We the people in the form of the government are already getting 35% of the profits from Exxon/Mobil. Government already gets a healthy portion of the profits from ‘Big Oil’(more than 3 billion).

Second, possibly the most interesting and telling fact is that we, in our roll as the Tax Man, get on average 46 cents on every gallon sold while ‘Big Oil’ only gets 10 cents. Not only does government get on average more than 4 times as much, in taxes, as ‘Big Oil’ gets in profits, but the government assumes no risk.

State and Federal Government is the entity that makes the most off of a gallon of gas, yet it is government who is trying to ask for more…and who is the greedy one?

Thirdly, when President Carter pushed for and passed the ‘Windfall Profit Tax’ it had the net affect of creating more dependence on foreign oil than less. Domestic production declined by 1.5 million barrels a day. When companies have less to spend on exploration, they buy more from overseas suppliers at a lower cost. Ultimately, the last phase of WPT resulted in greater dependence upon foreign suppliers and less domestic production, exactly the opposite of what most of us want from the industry.

Those in favor of the WPT will argue that any profits put back into exploration or refineries, conveniently forget they are the same folks limiting the exploration and refinery investments via environmental laws and such. What ‘Big Oil’ has to keep in mind is return on investment (ROI), but the more favorable solutions to exploration and new refineries are politically unacceptable to those proposing a ‘Windfall Profits Tax’.

Finally, if you are upset about the gross profits of ‘Big Oil’ you should be more than 4 times as angry about the gross profits gained by Government on each gallon of gasoline sold. Congress, both Republican and Democrat alike, recently passed the Transportation Bill that has more ‘pork’ than a Jimmy Dean factory. The truly greedy are those who spend our tax dollars, they can never do with less!

Hearts not Troops...how to win Iraq(over)

The question in Iraq is not whether we are winning or have won the war, rather it is how can we keep the peace. This has been ignored as the last stage of thsi conflict by those on both sides.
IF we needed considerably more troops the commanders would ask and receive them. If we ever could reduce the militant components entering from Iran, Jordan, Syria and Saudia Arabia by show of force we would do so, but we cannot. the Soviet Union, and the entire Eastern Bloc fell despite walls, armorments and troops to sedate thier citizens, it does not work.
To win the Peace in Iraq we must as General Landsdale said of Vietnam win the Hearst and Minds of the Iraqi people. We must continue to build and rebuild the vital infrustructure inside of Iraq. When sabatoged, we rebuild. We continue to spur the process to a democratic structure and continue to support the political and social institutions inside Iraq. When the Iraqi people begin to establish the trust in thier own government, they then will establish the necessary respect for the government and country they have developed. When this time has come, they will not accept the interference by elementst from outside. They who live near or around the foreign insurgents will begin to identify them to the authorities. Until this occurs this is going to be a truth test.
The Iraqi people hold the key to their own future. They must be the keeper of sovereignty, but htis can only occur when they accept the institutions they have created. The US can help this process along with aid, relief and a strong enough force to continue to train and rebuile the people and hte structures.

When ordinary Iraqis accept thier destiny of democracy they will accept ownership in thier nation and target these rogue elements themselves.

5th Anniversary of the Hyde Park Declaration

This month we quietly celebrated the 5th anniversary of the Hyde Park Declaration, a ‘Statement of Principles and a Policy Agenda for the 21st Century’ issued by the Democratic Leadership Council in August of 2000. The Declaration was a guide for Democrats for Policy in the new Millennium.
Yet, why was it a quiet celebration? Well, that was because some of the good ideas offered by the New Democrats include ‘Personal Retirement Accounts’ for Social Security. Today, the Democratic Party has decided to stay out of the national discourse on a permanent solution to the solvency issue of Social Security.
You see, it was a quiet celebration because the lists of signors of this Declaration include many who have spoken ill of the very measures they endorsed only 5 years ago. Congressman Jim Davis is one of many Democrats who had agreed by signing the measure that endorsed…
· Honor our commitment to seniors by ensuring the future solvency of Social Security and Medicare.
· Make Structural reforms in Social Security and Medicare that slow their future cost growth, modernize benefits, and give beneficiaries more choice and control over their retirement and health security.
· Create Retirement Savings Accounts to enable low-income Americans to save for their own retirement.

Congressman Davis is not the only prominent Democrat to endorse Personal Savings Accounts in 2000 who has more recently shied away. That list also includes Sen. Bayh, Sen. Kerry, Sen. Landrieu, and Sen. Lieberman.

The historical context of the Hyde Park Declaration should be noted for clarity. It was written and signed by these Democrats long before they and their Party refused to offer any solution to the Social Security problem. In fact, around the same time as this Declaration, the thoughtful Democrat Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan said of his own savings account proposal, “With this investment provision workers can build up estates, The fellow who worked at Bethlehem Steel for 40 years would not just have a pension, an annuity, but could leave substantial amounts of money to his children. That’s kind of a new America”.
It was this type of thinking at allowed the Democrats signing this Declaration to say about Social Security, “we can’t just spend our way out of the problem; we must find a way to contain future costs.” They went on to endorse the proposal of giving, “beneficiaries more choice and control over their retirement and health security” and that we should “Create Retirement Savings Accounts to enable low-income Americans to save for their own retirement”.
The time has come for the thoughtful Democrats, like Rep. Jim Davis, to back their Hyde Park Declaration with action. The time for politics as usual has passed, the fiscal wreck of Social Security inches closer each passing day. Instead of ignoring their Declaration of 2000 in Hyde Park, today we ask Representative Davis to stand and reaffirm his 5-year-old endorsement for Retirement Savings Accounts and permanent Solvency of the Social Security System.
It may come as a surprise to many to discover that President Roosevelt’s original Social Security plan included provisions that would have allowed people to make personal investments-not all together different from the private accounts that President Bush is currently proposing. This was one of the three ‘necessary principals’ in Roosevelt’s legislative package presented to Congress on January 17, 1935. Unfortunately this provision formerly known as ‘Title V’ was deleted from the final bill that passed Congress due to pressure from the Insurance Industry Lobby.

So, now that thoughtful American’s like President Roosevelt, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Representative Jim Davis and President George Bush all agree on the concept of ‘Personal Retirement Accounts or if you wish, Retirement Savings Accounts, let us have some Democratic Leadership to help get this boat to port for all our sakes. Once this boat is safely navigated to port we have another looming Medicare ship not far behind. This should not be a Democrat or Republican issue; it must be a bi-partisan solution.

The nation needs to see the signors of the Hyde Park Declaration stepping up to help guide this ship safely home.

Bonds, McGuire, Palmeiro and Sosa, cha cha cha

Barry Bonds is within striking distance of Henry 'Hank' Aaron and the alltime homerun mark. Mark McGuire has the single season record for Home Runs. Raffy has put up 3000 hits to go along with 500 dingers. Sammy was just a two time 60 plus home run guy who just happened to cork his batting practice bat. Sadly, the fact is all these players are cheaters, whether we can positively affirm this or not, we know in our hearts Bonds is a cheat, as is Mark and Raffy. Sammy is a liar with Raffy.

Barry Bonds is being held out of baseball this year for purposes to distance himself from the bad press this season on steroids. I would even make the claim that Commisioner Selig made a back room deal to keep Bonds from being found guilty for Steroid use if Bonds would agree to ride into the sunset and not break the Aaron mark. We certainly will see if this theory is based in fact when next year arrives and whether Barry finishes his run at Aaron. Much like i had suspected Jordan was quietly suspended from Baseball for gambling, I too suspect that Bonds has been asked to take the season off and avoid further controversy.

Raffy is a proven liar, Sammy is a known corker though the both claim foul. Both took a page out of the Clinton playbook to deny even the sun in the sky. McGuire admited to taking a enhancing compound that clearly added to his competitive advantage, but due to a technicality he skated from being a doper. Yet, I would argue he could have been creating an elaborate rouse to cover his prior use of Steroids. In any event, you would have to have been born in the morning, in particular, yesterday morning to believe any of these players deserve anything more than our scorn.

Well, it must be if Michael Schiavo is considered something of a good example of anything other than a killer, perguror and despot.
Michael Schiavo made a claim 5 years after any possible moment of discussion with his wife that she had not wanted to live is a PVS condition. I can scantly recall any converstions clearly I had 5 or more years ago.
MS is the embodiment of all that is abnormal and disgusting in our society--the epitimy of moral relativism. Yet, by pulling our our heart strings rather than our intellect many intelligent folks in this country quitely say, 'well, who would want to live that way'. Yet that is not the issue...what is or was the issue is whether Terri did or did not say this.
What we do know is that Michael Schiavo did not recall her wishes when he sought rehabilitative and punitive damages from the original care givers. He never made such claims in court during the first trials about her condition. Nay, what he did say was He intended to dedicate the rest of his life to his wife, leaving out he planned to finish what he started---by killing her.

Harsh?
I think not. I am simply calling it as I see it. Not one single bit of evidence can lead anyone to conclude she entered this condition in any particular way or for any specific reason. In fact, all the possibilites raised by MS and his team of lawyers were soundly rejected.
What we do know is for some period of time one early morning she was denied oxygen and as a result MS waited more than 40 minutes before he contacted 911. nearly 15 years later he finally was able to have her starved to death---and I am the one who is harsh--again I think not!

What is obnoxious is the moral relativism affecting all parts of our society. Religions allowing homosexual Marriage, people who claim to be god fearing ignoring that fear to allow people to kill those they deem less equal. We kill the unborn child because it is inconvenient to allow them to be born. We kill the infirmed because someone feels they are too burdensome. We kill Terri Schaivo because her husband claimed that is what she wanted...long before he started a new family.

Please, Michael Schaivo is an example of the very worst in all of us. The part of us that acts out without thinking of the moral consequences. What is most obnoxious about this award was his comment that he accepted this on behalf of Terri---that is sickening!
Some are celebrating the very worst and lowest denomenator in all of humanity--the killer.

CAFTA's strategic importance

CAFTA is NAFTA with strategic importance, though less the economic impact. It is rather interesting that some Republicans have been the vocal opponent of CAFTA when they are also part of the group wanting immigration controls for strategic impact.
The Reagan revolution spread to Central America and helped usher in a democratic reform movement that enveloped the region. However, because of the lack of economic reform, the cental american region is sliding back towards powerful power politics of the few--ie. Daniel Ortega.

Sen. John McCain believes in the notion "I can fool enough of the people, enough to the time, to run for President". If not, it could be he went to the School of Propagandy and studied under Goebbels. You see, Sen. McCain who has been self-identified as a reformist of Campaign Finance Laws is the very reason reform of some kind has been needed. We, (McCain and myself) would only disagree on what and how.

You may not recall his neck deep associations with peddlers of illegal and illicit campaign financing from the 1980's that Sen. McCain has been successful about keeping from more recent media exposes on himself or the 2000 campaign.

You also may not know that the same Senator is and has been successful in keeping the media from exposign another damning episode in is life of hypocrisy. Sen. McCain has recently had to step down, as Chairman, from the very Institute he created--The Reform Institute. The Institutel was accepting large donations in the 100K range from businesses and PAC's that had interests infront of the very Commerce Commitee Sen. McCain Chaired.

The Reform Institute is housed in the same building that also houses the Friends of John McCain (his re-elecion office) , his Adivsor's lobbying firm and his PAC, Straight Talk America.
The Institute also pays salaries to several cross over employees, in some cases more than 100K in individual salaries. For example, his political advisor Davis takes a 110K salary from the Institue along with additional salary being drawn from his campaign.

Possibly more interesting is the mysterious 'Contributor number 8, who is not identified in the Institute paperwork but did contribute. This is interesting since the Reform Institute makes transparent other contributions, less this one--why?

Possibly most interesting is the fact that the donations have been pouring in this year, more than doubling last years take...coincedence to the fact he may be running for President in 2008 or just dumb luck?

John McCain along with fellow travelor Sen. Feingold could be considered the Orvile and Wilber of the 521 Era. This newly expossed and abused code replaces the old time money stream into politics. Did McCain re-invent the wheel or just improve upon the Atom Bomb so to speak.

John McCain gets a free ride from the liberal media because he has been willing to eat his own or leave the planation of his GOP masters. He has been willing at nearly every turn to provide a valuable sound bit to criticise fellow republicans or the President, to the bedazzlement of the left and media.
They certain do not plan to take him down until he gets the Republican Nomination for President in 2008, when his usfullness hass expired.

I guess we would have to call him the Scarecrow because he has Courage and a Heart with some left over, it is a Brain he needs, though he is as shrewed as a fox. This man can never be President without a base and the left will not provide it. He cannot win the hearts and minds of conservative Americans and thus he is left out in the wasteland of political relativism.

John McCain has lived a life and practiced a form of Politics of trying to fool all who witness his actions, kind of a political David Copperfield of illusion. He claims to be the savior of money politics by creating the most usefull tool yet for the elites to control politics. At the very least, Businesses contributed jobs and tax revenue and possibly a product along the way to the American system while all 521's have to offer are money to candidates. This is somehow better?

John McCain is the Anti-Christ of Politics. All he does is black magic and sell it as the power to heal. He creates a Reform organization that practices the same techniiques used for decades to bilk the system. He claims to be a reformer while really conducting himself like a traitor to all that is good and decent. What is so grossly wrong with this man is that he plays upon the most decent in all of us by pulling our heartstring for serving our Country in Vietnam and being subjected to torture and confinment in a cell as a P.O.W.

John McCain is the very lowest form of Politician, one who practices what he beleives about the rest of us---he thinks we are stupid. Let us prove him wrong!

The Transportation bill is just anohter example of what Lord Acton described by claiming "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely". The Republican Revolution was a real purposeful revolution with sound tangeble results. However, since 2000, the fog of power has emerged and the GOP has began and now perfected the DEMOCRAT style of big government politics.

The Transportation bill is the right time for the first Presidential VETO by President BUSH.

The gains over the last 11 years are quickly sliding back to a disasterous time of Democratic control of the legislative branches of our government. It isn't the fact that GOPer's are just like the DEMS, rather it is that the conservatives have lost the power base they had under GINGRICH, ARMEY, ARCHER and crew. Today, Hastert, Thomas, Stevens and Young rule the roost and that is bad for all americans.

WE need a VETO and we need our second Conservative effort towards a new REPUBLICAN REVOLUTION or we risk losing to the the true socialists. The Dems are our version of the Socialist party in our nation.

Why is it that more than a dozen nations have a flat tax including several former Soviet Block nations like Russia. More than a dozen nations have No Inheritance Taxes including the Socialist iconiclast Sweden. More than a dozen naitions have Private Retirement Accounts, working to enrich their people instead of cripple them, like Chile. Why is the US tax code working more like Marx would have it than Adam Smith? Why is our governance sliding into a Socialistic experiment cherished by the the left?

The world will someday look back upon this time much as we look back at our usage of other humans as slaves. Simply for the purpose of convenience do we allow those who are irresponsible to take the life of another.
It is not as though you cannot walk into any drug store or gas station to buy protection. It is not as though we have a patch, a pill and even a disgusting morning after pill, but must we still have abortion? how sad.

the left is a sadistic selfish group of baby killers. Pro life folks support the truly least fortunate while the Pro Choice crowd cares less for the least fortunate. I was led to beleive that it was the liberals and left that cared for those who need the most help, not the right?

Specialist: Keeping fetuses may be widespread
'At last I knew the truth'

Investigators probing the shocking discovery of hundreds of fetuses and stillborn babies stored in a Paris hospital morgue are likely to find that the practice is widespread in France, a top medical specialist said Wednesday.

A day after officials said 351 stillborn babies and fetuses were kept at Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Hospital's morgue -- some for two decades -- more than 100 worried families called a hotline to inquire about their cases, hospital authorities said.

Investigators were probing how such a breach of French law could have happened, and why. But one top geneticist and medical ethicist said he was not surprised.

"I think that there are fetuses and stillborn infants in all maternity wards at university hospitals," Dr. Axel Kahn, a member of France's national ethics committee, told The Associated Press. "Once, it was the norm ... Researchers who needed them for their work asked obstetricians not to dispose of them."

The law was changed in the mid-1990s to prevent the practice.

Current French law calls for bodies of unclaimed stillborn babies to be cremated within 10 days. Fetuses cannot be used for medical purposes except with the parents' explicit consent. In that case, the bodies must be cremated within six months.

Even after the laws were changed, some specialists at Saint-Vincent-de-Paul may have wanted to keep the remains to do genetic testing on them one day, Kahn said.

'I still have these disturbing images in my mind'
At the hospital in southern Paris, some jars in the morgue contained autopsied bodies, and others, dismembered body parts. The oldest remains dated from 1985, and around 20 bodies had been conserved in the last year, Paris hospital officials said.

While most were either aborted fetuses or stillborn babies, at least two had been born alive and died shortly after.

Health officials have launched a wider inquiry to find out if the practice existed at other hospitals.

"There was no reason why those bodies should have been kept," Rosemarie Van Lerberghe, general director of the Paris public hospital system, said at a news conference. "I don't think we will find the same thing in other places."

Health Minister Xavier Bertrand described his shock at visiting the morgue, saying that the remains were stored in "disgraceful" conditions.

"I still have these disturbing images in my mind, these sacks and bottles of formaldehyde spread out," he told Le Parisien newspaper.

The hospital has not addressed who kept the fetuses, or why. The remains were stored under lock and key in a two-room annex off the morgue's refrigerator room, news reports said. Only a handful of people had access to the rooms.

Dr. Pierre-Marie Cousin, president of the union of gynecologists and obstetricians, pointed out that Saint-Vincent-de-Paul carries out autopsies on stillborns from other hospitals.

"An autopsy for a child takes considerable work, and the delay to obtain one can reach up to six months," he told The AP. "The fact that the burial or cremation of these stillborn babies wasn't carried out is perhaps negligence, but not a moral problem."

One woman's search for the remains of a fetus she had aborted in 2002 led to the discovery, Le Parisien reported.

"I wanted to verify that my child was cremated, like they said he would be," 27-year-old Caroline Lemoine was quoted as telling the paper. Following repeated requests for the date of cremation, the hospital acknowledged it had not disposed of the body.

"They told me 'Your son has not been cremated, his body is still here,"' said Lemoine, who had the abortion after doctors said her pregnancy was not viable.

"At last I knew the truth," she said. "My mourning came to an end."

Integrity and baseball

Rafael Palmeiro and his positive drug test are just the tip of this dirty mountain--DRUGS IN BASEBALL. The real story is much deeper and taller. The 1990's has ushered in the steroid age of baseball, but the cocaine age was epitomized by the Pittsburgh connections and folks like Hernandez and Parker. Though at least the cocaine epidemic only affected the players not the league records---this is what matters to me as a fan.

What has made Baseball great and unique over the last century plus is that players could be compared generationally and that the game was unscripted, less maybe the 1919 World Series (ha ha).
Yet, as of 1992 could anyone deny the emergence of something wrong in the game. from 1992 through this season players like Brady Anderson would go from 15 adn 21 homer seasons to 50. Luis Gonzalez and Steve Finly poping them out like Schimidt and Pops. Watching Bonds, McGuire and Sosa chase Ruth, Aaron and Maris was the final straw for me. Certinaly they could do it, but watching Sosa claim his bat was corked only for BP was embarrasing. Bonds and McGuire choose another form of illegal benefit-Steriods. Though McGuire attempted to knock us off the sent by admitting to creatine, i for one was not fooled by his action---he was an abuser of other 'roids' too--no doudt and his records need to be expunged or (*). Bonds, on the otherhand, wants us to believe that despite his connections with a distribution lab company dealing in steroids, that he did not partake in them, despite what his mistress claimed.
We can show the amazing change in numbers of homeruns hit by not only the power hitters in baseball from say 92 thruogh 2004, but that does not compare to the emergence of psuedo power hitters like Brady Anderson, Finly, Castillo and crew.

Baseball sold its soul to the devil to win ratings and fans in the seats. It only cost the integrity of the game. Thank you Mr. Owner/Commisioner Selig. The League ignored the clear issue demonstrated by increased power over the 90's...for who's benefit...owners, players and the league in general. Who loses?
Ruth, Gehrig, Williams, Mays, Schmidt, Maris and all of us who have cared about the history and integrity of the game.
Selig fiddled while Major League Baseball burned. He sent Rose to the lions while ignoring the corruption of that same game he claimed to be saving by sacrificing Rose.
All the time Selig condemned Rose he allowed Bonds, McGuire and Palmeiro to destroy the same game with Steriods instead of bets.
Satistically, just for review, Before 1993 Palmeiro averaged 15.6 homers a season while Bonds averaged 26. After 1993, Palmeiro averaged 36,5 while Bonds averaged 43.9. Surely even my son could see the clear demonstratable adjustment in power. Over the same two periods Palmeiro averaged 75 RBI's while Bonds averaged 84.6 RBI's. During the later period Palmeiro increased to an average of 108.7 while Bonds increased to 107.25.
Many other players could be added to demonstrate the steriod abuse was not atypical rather it was widespread and typical. Baseball has had a problem for more than a decade that it has tryied to hide, ignore and avoid. It had to take an action by Congress to get this opened up, think about it, Government actually has helped to solve a problem, no not crime, not poverty but steroids in Baseball---ye of little faith.

Finally, Baseball has lost something they have tried since Kennesaw "Mountain" Landis to maitain--its integrity. Despite the absolutely bueatiful history of the game, it is mared by the actions allowed by Mr. Selig. Though it should not be shocking to anyone, that when the fox is asked and allowed to guard the henhouse...don't be shocked to find dining going on.
Baseball needs a real, independent Commisioner and it needs one without the name of Bud Selig. Certainly one cannot blame Selig for Steroid use, but we can blame him for ignoring steriod use. Bonds, Palmeiro, McGuire and Sosa should all have thier records perferably removed from baseball history, but at the very least marked by an (*). The Steroid Era should be noted and established to re-engage the integrity lost to a group more interested in personal achievement than with team achievement---that includes owners who were more interested in padding the pocket than maintaining integrity.
As we note in the almanac that 1981 was a strike shorted season, so too should we note that the era beginning in about 1992 through 2005 was the Steroid affected Era.

Random Stupidity and Terrorism (thank you ACLU)

Why is that everytime a security issues arise the left offers Random Stupidity. RS is the result of PC affects upon our National Security caused by ACLU types.
From old women at airports, to random bag searches at the subways we cannot target those targeting us, we must not use knowledge to find the bad guys we must be handcuffed by the left.

The ACLU and it's ilk have stymied the smart and reliable efforts to protect all americans for the fear of infringing upon the psuedo rights of a few americans. It is a fact that racial profiling is a beneficial way to target suspects in all types of crime. In terrorism the fact is that muslim men are the overwhelming culprits in the crimes. It is also true that you do not go hunting for ducks by randomly shooting into the air without identifying your target...that would be stupid to hope for a duck to somehow at the right time to cross your path.

Racial profiling is not the only criteria for any type of selection process in law enforcements efforts to protect us from Terrorism. Rather it is one element. Others would be the clothing affects worn by potential suspects and whether they are carrying anything that could conseal a bomb. Yet, despite the clear amount of support criteria the left still objects. To who's benefit?

Why must all people remove their shoes at Reagan National Airport, even the elderly and the young, the women and those in high heeled shoes? No good reason. It serves no good purpose, but to give a union person a job.

The next 9/11 will include Nukes or Bio/Chem weapons inside the US

Burried somewhere inside the US are possibly up to 30 suitecase size nuclear weapons. Additionally, burried or hidden around both England and the United States are vials of Bio and Chem materials in both nations for future use.

Left behind by the former KGB were bio and nuclear weapons for the next great war. When the Soviet Union colapsed these weapons were not summoned back to mother Russia but left behind. Today the problem becomes were these stories fantasy and make believe. Were these just stories to expand the legend or hyperbole or were they factual and are these instruments of death still insider our borders.

One thing is for certain, Al Qaeda would pay any price to discover the truth and to gain access to these commodities if they truly exist. AQ has been, we can assure ourselves, planning an even larger attack upon our shores since 9/11. What could make this an even larger impact would be hte use of weapons of mass destruction, weapons possibly left over from the cold war inside the US.

Whether the fanciful stories from the KGB are true or not, we can confirm the fact that inventories are not complete back in Mother Russia of weapons of this type--suite case dirty bombs. The Democrats have seemingly lost touch with reality over the last 5 years. The Democrats have slowly become the Party of 'No' or even worse yet, the Party of 'Do or Die" They no longer care about what is best for Americans. They no longer support policies or even discuss policies. The Democratic Party no longer serves the American peoples interests, they serve thier elected interests.
This is the only explanation for the lack of any interest by the Dems in protecting the American people from the the 'thievery' as Daniel Patrick Moynihan called the Social Security system.
Simply because of Politics does the Democratic party, nearly to a person, claim no problem exists to address. for 6 months variuos Republicans have circumnavigated the US with the President explaining the SS problems and asking the DEMS to step up to the podium with helpful ideas to explore...they have become the Ostrich party...ignoring the problems.

5 liberal leaning justices have eviserated the Property Rights of all americans in the Kelo case. Putting Taxing and revenvue for Government above the rights of property owners.
People like Sen. Durbin castigating the Military, seemingly the only thing the DEMS truly stand for.

The Dems have largely ignored the issues related to protecting Americans from Terrorism, focusing more on efforts to blame BUSH rather than create ways to provide better security for US citizens.

The Presidents choice to head our delegation at the United Nations is being held up by the Democrats in the Senate along with a few stragglers in the the GOP ranks, but why?
To the best anyone can tell, it is because he is a tough and unrelenting boss. Difficult and demanding!?
No it is not that he has previously missappropriated funds, leaked information to the press, rather it is they don't like him much. Forget the fact that the witnesses to his Senate prosecution have been clearly motivated by partisan politics, he still is not worthy of the job.
We should look, for a moment, at the job he is being nominated for. Ambassador to the UN. Hell, with the UN recent history they may well be right.

WE may need someone who has a greater experience is impropriety. Someone with experience in nafarious actions. Like...Sen. Biden who has a history of plagerism. Maybe Sen. Kennedy who has a history of manslaugther, or Sen. Byrd who has a history of rabid discrimination and leadership in anti civil rights movements. Possibly a person who has a history of habitual disgraceful conduct with women like Sen. Dodd or a proven liar, self promoter, and self professed war criminal Sen. Kerry. We could also choose a Senator who has worked to cover up huge land deals, insider trading and and who has experience working on behalf of the United States Communist Party as Senator Clinton has done.

Or we can just vote to approve a gentleman who has been nominated 4 previous times without a nary of negative testimony in the past...Oh, well that would be Bolton.
How hypocritical it is for the Senate to suddenly find religion when they have approved this man four times before. It is very similar to the Justices who have come up several times before for Federal District and Appeals level seats and cleared easily but suddenly the Senate now finds objection to them. Either the Senators did not do thier job the first time or times with a particular nominee or they are not doing it now. The Malfeasence is not on behalf of Bolton or these justices it is by the Senate.
How can a body of hypocrits sit in judgement of a fine man and drag his name through the media simply for politics...well leave it to the Democrats in the Senate and some in the House to work to destroy a persons reprutation for political reasons.

The Florida Supreme Court is currently hearing the Case on School Vouchers or as we call them in Florida--Opportunity Scholarships--the most appropriate name! This case revolves around the Blaine Laws that were set into motion as ways to prevent Government monies going to Catholic Schools, today trying to be used to prevent children, often poor and minority from gaining a better eduction in our floundering public school system.

Since their inception in the state of Florida, OS (opportunity scholarships) have shown remarkable results, particularly for those targeted, minorities.

During the time when White acheivement in 3rd grade level reading improved from 70 to 78 percent, Hispanics improved from 46 to 61 percent---dramatic! Blacks showed an even more impressive boost from 36% to 52% a 44% increase. Wow, that is amazing, unless your agaisnt the betterment of the minorities in question...hmm libs??

Graduation rates have shown an impressive increase too. Hispanics from 52% to 64% and Blacks from 48% to 57%, gains shown nowhere else in the country. It has been spurred by Florida's No Child Left Behind and the Opportunity Scholarship program.

The Institute for Justice via a FOI request has found that the schools have been motivated by and to improvement because of the Vouchers. Yes, These schools that were motivated to improve show they feared the economics of competition. In fact, the improvements are nearly only in the those under threat of the Voucher program. Schools who have preformed well, receiving a grade of A remained in the same category, as were those in the C category. Only those schools in the failing or threatened arena shown statistical improvement---exactly the intent of vouchers!

Yet, despite the overwhelming success' while targeting minorities and poor preforming schools and demonstrating that higher standards can improve education the naysayers remain unconvinced.
The gangs that ignore the success and the overwhelming improvements for these targets remain aligned against the betterment of the poor and minorities---is this not patently racist.

The ACLU, The NEA, The People for the American Way, and the other various leftist groups who proport to support the poor and minorites are the same ones standing in the way of improvement, are they afraid of success and the prospect to losing the only voting block they have left???? No, this is not the next big pay per view heavyweight fight. It is the latest example of bias in the Main Stream Media. This one involves the abuse of privledge by two journalists, but the MSM focus upon only one, the conservative one.
If you have had your head in the sand you may not have seen the uproar about Armstrong Williams , an opinion journalist, who was paid a huge amount (250K) to write, speak and opine favorably about the Bush Administrations Education policies. However, the story you would have to be dectective to find is the one related to Linda Fasula, an NBC UN Corespondent, who was paid 25K to write a favorable book about the UN. I am not sure who has the residual rights to the books profits, but i suspect she has them.
The issue is why is it news when an opinion journalist/commentator (Williams) has a favorable opinion on the Bush Administration but not when a News Journalist has one about a body and individual she is paid to cover?
Armstrong Williams has never hidden nor denied his affinity to the conservative policies advanced by the current Administration, however, Linda Fasula should have a different standard as a News Journalist for the body and people she covers.
I understand the standard set forth by Dan Rather is hard to ignore, but she should be better than a hack like Dan. I understand it is hard to impossible to ignore your real opinions and beliefs when covering news, but that is what is expected.
I am not sure what bothers me most, the hypocrisy of her duality as a News Journalist doing the PR for the UN or the fact the MSM ignores this story but acts so indignent when Armstrong Williams is doing a similar thing, but from the vantage point of an opinion commentator?

This week, Kurt Anderson in the New York Magazine stated a similar point admitting to a guilty pleasure (by Liberals) in seeing bad news emit from Iraq. He also offered that it is hard to the point of hating to see success in Iraq and having it attributed to Bush and his team.
Even the NYTIMES editorial page found it necessary to admit that what is occuring is hard not to give at least some credit to Bush. The undeniable truth is that the hardline policy that guided this President has shown great success around the world which infuriates many on the left.

It would not take long to gather a long list of quotes from all the democratic candidates for President who talked down the ecnoomy. Nor would it take long to gather the long list of MSM and liberals who blasted Bush time and again to find out he, at least so far, is right.

The chief financier of the lefts favorite causes even gave 20 thousand to the defense fund of Lynn Stewart who knownly and willingly became the go between for a terrorist in prison and the Terror network he instructed. Soros gave this money after the facts had been aledged and nearly proven. He willingly supported a traitor in our midst. This would be shocking if not for the former Clintonite admitting her ill feelings when the US succeeds (when the GOP is in office).

How can you balance this belief structure against the greater good? Benjamin Netenyahu (sp) said, peace can not come to Palistine until Palistinian mothers love their children more than they hate Israel. I would offer an corelary, will will not lose this political rancor in this country until liberals love this country more than they hate republicans. It was DNC chair Dean who said "Republicans are evil".

It is time for all Americans to support America, it does not require all American's supporting the President's policy, but it does require all American's rooting for America.

Justice Scalia offers an smart if not Consitutional look at the decision
when he wrote...

In a scathing dissent, Scalia found it curious that the court would overrule the will of the American people in 19 states, but lean heavily on the opinions of foreigners.

"Though the views of our own citizens are essentially irrelevant to the Court's decision today, the views of other countries and the so-called international community take center stage," he wrote.

The majority begins its ruling by noting that "Article 37 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, entered into force Sept. 2, 1990, which every country in the world has ratified save for the United States and Somalia, contains an express prohibition on capital punishment for crimes committed by juveniles under 18."

The court also mentioned the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which the U.S. Senate, Scalia pointed out, ratified he Senate "only subject to a reservation that reads: 'The United States reserves the right, subject to its Constitutional restraints, to impose capital punishment on any person (other than a pregnant woman) duly convicted under existing or future laws permitting the imposition of capital punishment, including such punishment for crime committed by persons below eighteen years of age."

"Unless the Court has added to its arsenal the power to join and ratify treaties on behalf of the United States, I cannot see how this evidence favors, rather than refutes, its position," wrote Scalia. "That the Senate and the President – those actors our Constitution empowers to enter into treaties ... have declined to join and ratify treaties prohibiting execution of under-18 offenders can only suggest that our country has either not reached a national consensus on the question, or has reached a consensus contrary to what the Court announces.

Perhaps it is time for concern by all Americans to the ursurping of power by the Beltway 5. Acting against the Constitution and the laws that govern and siding with international law and norms over the will, and legal requirements of our founding Constitution!

The Supreme Hypocrites

The Supreme Court ruled this week that Capital Punishment is a violation of the 8th amendment if it is extended to juveniles. In a 5-4 decision, a split down international socialist verse reasonable justices, the court ruled that government sanctioned killing is only acceptable between the ages of 18 and above.
Justice Kennedy, writing for the majority, noted that we are the only nation that allowed this practice. His penchant for citing International norms and law is troubling and getting worse. Justice Kennedy should spend a bit more time understanding his own Constitution and the authority granted from the people through the document to the court. It is either his stupidity or naivety but either way he is miles off base on his decision-making.
Yet, besides the fact the majority has ignored our own Constitution on a regular basis the bigger problem with this latest decision is the pure hypocrisy of it. Either the death penalty is just or is not just, either it is legal or it is not. Age is irrelevant to the condition of it's practice, yet arbitrarily they found that 18 is a demarcation between just and unjust, legal and illegal.
I am an extreme opponent of the death penalty, but that withstanding, i find it rather simple to believe we can be so trival about it's application and use.
If it is just and legal, then it should follow that it too should be equally applied and used, not discriminately used applied and used. To put it more simply if we are going to say killing someone by caveat of the government sanction, we should be judicious and fair in it's use. Rather, by declaring it illegal to kill by government caveat a person who commits a crime that otherwise would qualify the sentence for a death penalty, simply because of age is ludicrous. It is arbitrary, it is wrong.
Justice Kennedy also pointed out, wrongly i might add, that we are the only country in the world that sanctions executions for juvenile crimes. What he should have said is we may be the only nation that sanctions the executions for crimes committed by juveniles, not a minor distinction (excuse the pun). Yet this man still serves on the highest court in the land, do you begin to see the problem.
First, he is charged with honoring and obeying our U.S. Constitution, not international norms or laws.
Second, the purpose of punishment in our system is not retribution, rather it is protection of society. As such, we require a fairness that is clear and present.
Thirdly, if justices show absurdity by being arbitrary it undermines our entire Constitutional government.
What it might require is a base knowledge of the US CONSTITUTION and perhaps a regular refresher course for those charged with "upholding" the document and all it stands for.
Ironically, as an opponent of the Death Penalty I find myself equally upset with the gross malfeasance expressly shown by the majority in this recent decision. I would, both logically and constitutionally, prefer that the majority ultimately finds the action of a death penalty to be Unconstitutional. It can be done on so many levels, it violates the founding principal of Liberty and the protection against "cruel" punishment, but not the least of which is the racial bias that is statistically present in the application of the policy.
Finally, our entire system will be eroded if the cadre of internationalists continues to set Constitutional precedent by virtue of a mere majority in numbers while having a gross disregard for our Constitution.

Bush and his Waterloo...

Certainly, President Bush will go down as one of the best 3 Presidents of the last 100 years. Along with FDR and Reagan, Bush has shown exceptional leadership and vision. Yet, as with both FDR and Reagan, he too has his issues and examples of weakness. FDR had the expansion of government and the depression that loomed, while Reagan had his Iran/Contra issue, so too does Bush have his...Central and South America (Latin America).
Over the last 10 years Latin America has slowly fallen back towards less freedom for it's peoples. While Democratic principals have propelled many nations to greater and greater success economically, the assention of people like Chavez and newly selected Sandinista to lead the Army in Nicaruaga has brough the region closer to it's collective past than to it's democratic future.
Not helping the cause are people like Fidel Castro and Jimmy Carter who for different reasons have placed themselves too much into the fray.
Bush like CLinton has spent too little time worrying about the transformation of this region and as a result we have lost ground. The people have lost as a result of it.

Bush needs to re-assert our interest and hence the interest of Freedom and true democratic principals in the region. Despite great wealth from oil both Venezuala and neighboring states have missused the resources and led thier nations further backwards, in other words backslide from democracy. Sadly, Jimmy Carter endored and condoned this result and practice in Venezuala.

Ultimately, as Brazil and Argentina begin to control more and more of the worlds agriculture market we are going to shift even more power to the region. IF we wait to act againt the shifting political structures, we will have missed our opportunity.

Trying to help back the opponent in an election and coup effort has worsened our appeal in the region, so more is needed as is better (ideas).

Though the Presidents plate is full compared to the lost opportunity we call the Clinton years, we can not make excuses today. IT must be a priority and it must beging as soon as possible.
In 1998, when Chavez came to power we have done too little to build the case for him to come to us rather than us going to him. We need new governance in the region and less participation by Cuba. Cuba is the greater influencer of action in the region than we are, this is sad. It is time for Bush to make a push into the game of politics of South and Central America. IT is time to announce a special unit led by the governor of Florida to lead a diplomatic team to speak for the US.

The excitement and joy over Wead is a U-turn for the media over Taping. So in case your keeping score it is OK for the Husband and Wife team to stalk and tape Newt Gingrich cell phone, NOT OK for Linda Tripp to tape her friend when she asked Her (Tripp) to lie for her about what the President did or did not do, and it is OK for Wead to tap the Governor of Texas privately...this according to the reactiosn of Mainstream Media.
In case your are wondering, it is OK to whistle blow on Government or Big Business but not OK to do so if you are Jose Cansenco doing so about fellow Baseball players...seems the media is a fickle bunch!

"For the Children" or not

For as long as one can remember this has been the Democrat and Liberal mantra to get action on anything from Education to Welfare. The left has used this tag line so much it has become cliché. To generate widespread interest or to throw guilt upon opponents of an issue, the left has used it like humans use oxygen. That is until something really IS for the Children--Social Security Reform.

From the liberal organization AARP to every liberal pundit on TV and in the Mainstream Media (MSM), you will find the, 'this is not a crisis until 2042'. The left has little to no interest in helping save the Social Security system for our youth, the children of America. Rather they complain that the President is over reaching and overreacting to the problem that is decades off, beginning to payout more than is coming in, in 2018.

Ironic that AARP is so active in this campaign against reform when the President has already issued a mandate that any reform exempts those born before 1950 (55 and over). Yet it is the liberal lobby known as AARP that is helping to drive this opposition to the reform efforts. Selfish, comes to mind for the greatest generation. Wow, no benefit cuts for them, but watch out if you want t o reform the great Ponzi scheme created by the great FDR, who knew of it’s failings from the beginning.

Considering that the impact of the crisis will not affect seniors or near seniors, it is really an issue for the children. Yes, the same children we have heard so much about as the one's having to pay for this war in Iraq because we are running deficits to pay for it. The same children who we have heard, adnauseam, that are the one's burdened with the 7 trillion debt.
Do not bother to consider, if you are the AARP or the standard barriers of the liberal cause that 11 to 12 trillion in unfunded liabilities owed to those born as of today are owed to future retires. This amount will fade away into the solvency that IS voluntary SS retirement accounts. IT would become the single greatest tax cut and debt payoff in World history!

All the President and those who are sensible are asking is for us to pay ahead on the burden like we would a mortgage. By paying ahead we reduce the liability that lays ahead of us. To think the Left, the Dems and the AARP are just playing politics on the single most important offering by a President in US history is criminal. Not only is it an attempt to solve the problem, but by clearing this Titanic deck (SS) we will better allow ourselves the ability to reform Medicare which also looms large. But first things first…let’s tackle Social Security before it is out of control, while it is only a crisis.

What scares the left so much is that this President dares to be right, and is on this issue. How can they live with themselves when this problem is solved by a Republican who cut taxes during the process…oh nightmare!

Iranian Explosion or was it a tree in the woods?

Well, it seems an explosion took place this morning at or near a Nuke facility in the Bushehr Province in Iran. Yet, to hear everyone it would seem it is their version of TWA800, many early thoughts but all denying the worst.

First, early today (2/16), we heard that an explosion, a major one, was both heard and seen in the region. First reports were sketcy and claimed it was a road building project, this dropped off early news reports fast and replaced by a report from a government official, Ali Agha Mohammedi who then claimed it was a dam project.

The early reports being promulgated by an official with the Supreme National Security Council was that it was an explosion related to a Dam building project.

Second, we then began to get reports from the unnamed source field that claimed eye witnesses saw a missile fired from an unidentified plane cause the explosion at the Nuke Facility that will be operational in mid 2005. These reports were quickly refuted by Iranian sources, who were equally unnamed.

Finally, the latest reports are that the explosion came from a fuel tank that was dropped by a passing aircraft. You know that seems to be happening far too frequently lately.

So in the matter of 8 hours we have seen 4 or 5 different versions of the story. Let us hope whatever the story is that it was a direct hit on the Nuke facility!

Dan Rather has destabalized the once proud CBS NEWS foundation. In fighting due to the coverup of process used at CBS is beginning to show it's ugly head, In an attempt to coverup and do damage control while maintaining the mountain of image that is Dan Rather, CBS has put the ego ahead of the entire News Division.

Offering to give a ruthless dictator heavy fuel for inspections is like giving a child a pepsi if they agree to stop eating so much candy. The Carter/Clinton disaster that is North Korea is still being felt in International circles today, and President Bush is charged with cleaning it up.

But, potentially worse than that is Carters latest test of his ineptitude...Venezuela.

Huge Chavez agreed to allow Carter to monitor then pulled the rug out from under the former President. But, instead of calling foul, he went along with the limited access and controlled access that he was left with by Chavez.
Inspecting only a small percentage the original agreed to amount of polling sites. Only inspecting those Chavez allowed to be reviewed and only allowing directed and no random checks, Chavez ran a fraud of an election.
Instead of calling foul and packing up and going home in protest, Carter allowed for his name to used, his organization to be used to prop up the illegal regime that is Hugo Chavez.

Carter in doing so, has put the population who by all measures voted against and threw out Chavez to be ruled by his strong thumb. The exit polling showed a 59%-41% win for the opposition yet Carter certified the results of a Chavez victory. In a long Democratic liberal history of supporting communists over freedom seekers Carter has put his name behind the seizure of power, the re-writing of the Constitution, the destruction of civil liberties, the importation of Cuban security, military and intelligence service personal to keep down the throngs of dissent in the country.

Jimmy Carter is the grandfather of the Communist takeover of the largest oil supply in this hemisphere. Jimmy Carter is the grantor of power to a ruthless killer of those who dissent. Jimmy Carter is functioning as the legitimizer of evil in South America.

Yet, you hardly hear a word in our media about the actions only a short distance from our shores.

Last month elections were held to form the new 'temporary' government of Iraq in a parliamentary form. Conspicuously absent were the Sunni's, who boycotted the election. They did so mainly in an attempt to thwart the legitimacy of the vote and in so doing energize the insurgency.
Yesterday, Sunni leaders accepted the offer of the three leading voting groups, the Shia, the Kurds and the Allawi lead faction to come into the newly formed government. Though the Sunni make up 1/5 of the population they managed to only get a handful of seats do to their boycott.
Miraculously, the spirit of democracy has shown like the sun on the newly planted field (with some inducement by the Bush Administration)and inspired those who lived through the brutal reign of the Sunni to reach out to their fellow Iraqi. All in the attempt to help create a greater re-birth of the Iraqi state.

Rarely in human history can one recall such an offering. The wisdom and benevolence of this act by the winners will undoubtedly help suppress the insurgency. The undertaking will let some of the air out of the Sunni support for the foreign lead insurgency. Iran is going to have a much tougher fight on their hands from Akbar and Ansi Iraqi.

I wonder why you may have missed this worthy of front page news in your local paper, your national paper, your local or national Mainstream News source, but rest assure this is the most momentous day in Iraqi's future. Outside of the first election, this is going to be a holiday before the next generation has the opportunity to vote in 20 years!

My stream of thought...

Multiple AP wire stories have purposely misled on the issue of Global Warming. Gracefully ignoring and miss interpreting facts the AP and the MSM has distorted the truth.

YES, the average annual temp. has gone up by about 1 degree over the last hundred years. Yet, AP does not offer the detail behind the fact. That half of that increase took place before 1930 and before the massive use of the internal combustion engine.

YES, Greenhouse gases can help affect the average annual temp., but humans are not the largest creator of greenhouse gases and fossil fuels are not even the greatest cause of Carbon Monoxide, cows and volcano’s are.

Yet, the most under reported fact is that water vapor is the most prolific and important greenhouse gas

If you were to read the NYTIMES, most newspapers, listen to nightly news or listen to liberals and Democrats like Al Gore, you would think we are the personification of the evil that is Global Warming, yet the facts prove differently.

Eason Jordan resigns for making a statement that he believed that US forces purposely targeted Journalists in Iraq. Wrong, stupid and foolish, but is it worthy of his resignation---NO.
Jordan offered an opinion and he should be held accountable for it, but not having to resign. He should be required to defend his factually bankrupt ideas. Hell, with fools like that at CNN, i feel much better.
Jordan should have been fired along with the entire managerial staff when he disclosed that the entire News unit covered Iraq more favorably than they otherwise would have for the purpose of protecting their journalists in Iraq during Saddam’s reign.
A news organization that admits it did not report the true cruel behavior (the FACTS) of SH because they feared for the reporters on the ground should be disbanded and whole criticized. They should have reported the facts (how novel) and taken their reporters out!

I truly believe this is the MOST egregious media action in the history of the media. Under reporting the cruel and brutal nature of the regime and then following it up with less than favorable coverage of the War. Purposely misleading the public and helping to build a coalition against the War.

***Well the 'Whitewash' report on the Rathergate scandal has come out and as expected told us exactly what we expected. 1) Dan Rather was not involved. 2) No bias was found against Pres. Bush. 3) Three executives were overzealous, not acting partisan.

***In the Middle East, three elections have been held or soon will be held. One by isreal in occupied territories for the Palestinians. One in Afghanistan after an occupation by teh US to free them from the Taliban. Finally one will be in Iraq after an occupation by the US. So the US fostered two elections in the region while Isreal allowed one in the Occupied Territories----hmm! now who are the bad guys...you would figure we are the bad guys if you listen or read mainstream media---so don't

***What was left out of the Rathergate report is simple. Rather used bias to ignore exculpatory information and powered by this bias, stood by while events proved him and his producers wrong. The hatred of BUSH, fueled a desire to ignore the truth and pursue a story that could potentially "change the momentum of an election".

If any liberal had any doudt (b/c no conservative doudted it before) as to how much the UN wants socialism, they only need to listen to this man. The UN wants World Government and control of all resources...here inlies the struggle with the UN vis-a-vis the US and sovereignty.

Kosovo revisited

Well a President did lie or mislead the American people, but that was Clinton not President Bush.
Sometime good deeds go unpunished. A strong case can be made that the US did the right thing in Kosovo, irrespective of the facts that proved the early claims eroneous. It is hard to make the claim the action was worthless, because it did save lives, so on its whole it was helpful, but was it worthy of our effort, I will let you decide, but...
In 1999, Clinton and the culpable American mainstream media made claims of ethnic cleansing in Kosovo by Serbs(Christians) against ethnic Albanians (Muslims). So, along with reports by the Administration and Human Rights groups championing the plight of the Albanians and built on claims of ethnic cleansing the US stepped up.

While Europe did nothing, they pressured Clinton to intervene.

Without Congressional approval.
Without United Nations approval.
Without any existing threat to the United States.
Without out any outcry from anti war groups.
Without any anti-US demonstrations.
Without any evidence to support claims...
the US bombed Serbs on behalf of Muslims in an attempt to defeat the Serbs. Yet, recently a newly placed Prime Minister of this Kosovo province has been indicted on 108 counts of abuse, including rape, torture and mass killings. The UN has had him testify on an invstigation they are conducting on the same matter as the indictments handed down in Serbia.
In fact, it is reported that the KLA's head of elite forces, Muhammed al-Zawahiri, was the brother of Ayman al-Zawahiri, the military commander for bin Laden's Al Qaeda. This unit was transformed into the the Kosovo Security Force, or police.

The legacy is that no "Clear and Present Danger" existed, no weapons of Mass Destrcution were present. However, the US and NATO conducted an operation in Kosovo which had NO strategic import the the US.
In doing so, the Clinton Administration has helped create the first Muslim Country in Europe...was that really the need or purpose?

Human Rights groups have since found no evidence of mass ethnic cleansing. The totals these groups have found shows deaths of about 10 to 20 thousand not the 100 to 300K the Clinton Administration told us.

So, a President did lie to the American People, but it was not BUSH rather it was Clinton. Succesfully, Clinton used airial Bombing to accomplish his goal of high power but low casualty.
OR...was it an inteligence failure? Why was our information so poor on the numbers beign killed, did we rely upon groups who had motives to lie? Did we do any due diligence in our effort to vet the situation on the ground? Why did the media not ever aske these questions?
Could we have demonstrated a need in 1999 and 2000 of prolbems in our INTEL and gather apperatus to merit change prior to 9/11? Unlikely, but we will never know because the media did not behave the same under Clinton as they did under BUSH, nor did the Human Rights groups, the Anti-US groups, the Anti-War groups, nor the Europeans and the UN.

Yet, no mass demonstrations by the lefties, no mass demonstrations by the anti-war crowd, no mass anti-US demonstrations, no media uproar, no media questions as to whether it was a JUST action...gee, I wonder why?

All it all Clinton backed the efforts of Muslims in Europe over the Christain population, to what end, who knows. Yes, lives were saved, but lives were lost in the process and just this year, Christains were the target of Muslim aggression. As were Christain churches which were burned, so what did we accomplish? Giving rise to an anti Christian base in Kosovo?
What we do know is it was not or should not have been a US prolbem. Because, to act in Europe and not in Africa creates the appearance of bias and racism. If the US along with the NATO nations will step in in Kosovo, why not Africa?
IS THIS NOT THE TERRITORY OF THE UNITED NATIONS, is this not why we created this body? Again they prove irrelevent in real terms.
It should not have been our action, nor should we have made it one. Nevertheless, more importantly, it was never authorized by our Congress nor the world community...but, Clinton received NO flack. It is the quinessential double Standard.

Elections in Afghanistan that nary got noticed in American media, establishe a most historic event, equal or more historic than Mandella in South Africa, if not as interesting for the media elite.

Iraq, biblical history aside, is about to experience something it had difficulty even believing a decade ago...free elections. Any question about the interest of and from the IRAQI people should be put to rest. The fact that lines of tens, twenty's and hundreds of people keep forming at police stations should dispell any doudt that these people want self determination as thier form of government. The fact that the insurgents focus mainly upon the police and government opperations, should illuminate that point...they want freedom.

Years from now, 2004 may be remembered most for it's movement of millions of people to DEMOCRACY and FREEDOM...not a bad legacy to have in your hip pocket as an important leader in that movement for President BUSH

Anthony Flew the leading philosopher for the Atheist movement has flew the coop of Darwinism. As the evidence has mounted against Darwinism, at least one Scientist (Flew), has followed the evidence where it leads...now supporting the theory of Inteligent Design.
Socrates scribed that we, and more importantly Scientists, must follow the evidence no matter where it leads. Prof. Flew has done just that in recent years. He has left Darwinism and Evolution as a theory and arrived at INTELIGENT DESIGN, if not the divine act of a creator.
Stopping short of endorsing a creator or GOD, Flew and many other Scientists, in particular at the Discovery Institute, have come to follow the evidence which leads them to believe that INTELIGENCE is behind our creation, not evolution.
Since we have come to understand the DNA in a more sophisticated manner, he and others have now come to the Theory that something other than evolution has had an impact on humans, and for that matter, life of all kinds. It is no accident of nature, he no longer claims himself to be the titular leader of ATHEISM.

Yet, despite the fact that the leading intellectuals have abandoned the ATHEIST cause of evolution and Darwinism, the media is and has been late to the table. Ignoring in as much as they can the level by which thoughtful Scientists have no come to reject EVOLUTION as a Theory in favor of INTELIGENT DESIGN, if not a creator (GOD).
Admittedly, they have gone to great leanths to avoid bring religion into the mix, they have been unabashed about the fact that some INTELIGENT force is at hand, not accidental or unplanned.

The utter complexity of life has been the toppling influence to this historic change that has come and sped past without much attention from the press. Our continuing greater understanding of DNA, genomes, and genes has been the portal from which change has occured in the Scientific community. As Socrates stated, we must follow knowledge( evidence) whereever it takes us, and that is what is happening.

Maybe the most poignant difference reflects more upon the UN than these two individuals.
The UN actually flew it's flag at half mast for Yasar Arafat. The only man to address the UN with a holstered pistol, was granted a respectful offering while RWR did not.
In fact, on 6/7/2004 the UN only offered a moment of silence and on the day of the 40th Presidents funeral they indeed hoisted the flag to it's full hieght. Additionally, they continued with scheduled parties celebrating UN employees, not even rescheduling them.
So, it goes that Arafat and known and self admitted terrorist. A man who claimed as one of his life acheivments was to orginate airplane hi-jacking was given a greater more respectful farwell than our 40th President.
Ronald Wilson Reagan was not only the great President many of us remember, but he was instrumental in freeing more humans than any other human. His policies led to the destruction of the slave state of the Soviet Union and their satelites.

A new movie is due out on the genocide that took place in RWANDA in 1994. If it is worth seeing, it will include enough blame to go around for the UN, the US, Frnace and Belgium.
On April 6th 1994, a plane carrying two Presidents was shot out of the sky, by 6 pm the next day a genocide had begun. In the next 99 days, 800,000 Rwandans died while the UN Peace Keeping Mission led by Kofi Annan did nothing, while President Clinton had his embassador to the UN Madelyn Albright lobby not to have it called a 'genocide" (preventing trigger mechinisms going into affect that mandates UN force), while France ignored warnings and planning of the rebel forces.
President Clinton had Anthony Lake and Madelyn Albright and their minions draft what came to be Presidential Draft Directive 25---Limiting US participation in Peace Keeping missions. CLinton and Albright lobbyed other nations to NOT consider the Rwandan issue genocide...allowing more than 800,000 people to die.

To his credit, Anthony Lake (Clinton National Security Advisor in 1994) has been vocally critical of both his office and the Administration for playing politics while women and children died, no were slaughtered....all on the heals of Somolia...Cliton's first foreign policy misstep.

So,...Clinton is revered as the first black President...scarry huh!

Yes, Christmas carols being kicked out of Christmas Pagents due to their religious theme, references to Christ being forbidden at Schools, and now Federated Stores (MACY's)not allowing Christmas acknowledged at their stores.
Yes, the stores that make millions on the rest of us celebrating the BIRTH of CHRIST has now decided it no longer will acknowledge CHRIST and CHRISTMAS...YES, the store of "MIRACLE ON 34th STREET" fame is now dissing it's most famous advertizing every year.

How can a vocal 1-2% of the population scare these pantywaistes to neglect CHRISTMAS is amazing, but one thing is for sure, i will never shop at a FEDERATED store again, nor TARGET who has kicked out our annual bell ringers.

Gee 10 days until Christmas...i'll see you at the mall because I was too late ordering online this year...too much blogging, i guess.

+ If you were only watching baseball over the last decade, how could you not have believed, known and guessed that McGuire, Bonds, Sosa and others were using juice, growth hormones and cork. Sure, MM never used steriods...look at him! Sure Sammy never used that cork bat in games...sure Bonds never used steriods. Yet they still expect us to watch after this and a the 94 strike...no way!

+ The media hattred for NOTRE DAME is almost as strong as the bias against the GOP. They have claimed and cried racism, or trying to avoid the word, they have implied it. They have claimed ND is NOW like everyone else, nothing but a Football Factory...this because they decided that 10 years of not competing for the crown jewel of college football is not worth making a change over

+ This media bias that claims racism (also from the Black Coaches Association) is not only pure bias, it ignores the facts. Bias does exist in College Football, however it is the others like Michigan, USC and FSU that exploit Blacks. They bring them to the school only to play football, not to educate them. WHile at ND, the graduation rate for Black Football players is the same as white--76%. The Fact that ND would not have hired a black coach if it even had the slightest hint of racism, is totally ignored by the biased press...including SI, USATODAY and ESPN.

+ Notre Dame still stands for the STUDENT/ATHLETE while others get the pass. Many schools still offer classes that are jock classes, Notre Dame does not...yet this goes woefully underreported.

+ Iraq is now the home of Terrorist playgrounds...those visiting from Syria, North Africa and Iran. They have come to IRAQ to try to disrupt the move to democracy. TELL ME WE ARE NOT WINNING. Those who hate BUSH, Hate America surely understand that fighting the Terrorists on this field in IRAQ is far better than doing so here on our streets, but they want to ignore the facts and the reality. They want to ignore the fact that our soldiers are the BEST tool to use against them, the terrorists

+ Social Security reform is desperately needed. Why do I know this? No, it is not the CBO or the SSA reports that tell me this (though they both do), rather it is the fact that Paul Krugman (the little minded man from the NYTIMES) does a flip flop and now claims it is not needed (though he previously claimed we needed reform and likely partial privatization).

+ Notre Dame has been assualted by ESPN and the Black Coaches Assocication for firing Ty Willingham (a very good person) who helped continue the fall of ND from FOOTBALL's A list. Despite the facts that show the most embarrasing losses in ND history they hang to the import of a 5 year contract rather than preformance...or is it his race?

+ ESPN and the BCA have argued with many echos in other media outlets that race was a reason, they again ignore the fact that the same BOARD OF TRUSTEES, University President and Athletic Director that hired him, fired him...seems like if racism was in play they would not have hired him in the first place...thier I go again and use logic...my father told me never confuse a fool with logic!

+The US did make a mistake not pushing elections sooner in IRAQ. The State Department run by Powell pushed for occupation and not immediate elections, going back to his statement to the President, "you break it, you buy it"...if we had pushed for immediate elections we would have taken much of the wind out of the insurgent sails. Yes, it could of allowed or fostered a greater likelihood to civil war, but it is a chance we should have taken. Elections will come in January and the issues will resolve more rapidly.

+Notre Dame did the right thing firing Willingham when they did. No racism was present, no administration or fan base would support a coach then turn on him b/c he was black, but they would for not winning. In Fact, it was the 8 losses by 21 or more and 5 by 31 or more that cost him his job.

+Willingham is a class act, and deserves the best! Urban Meyer is a vibrant, creative young coach...who is inovative and bright.

+Meyer, Gruden and Ferenz all have ND ties to some degree or another. They all would be good coaches for ND...but Meyer is the best choice following a long tradition of ND of picking a coach who succeeded at a smaller less football friendly school...see ARA, Leahy etc.

Instead of giving thanks to the LORD as the pilgrims did, the left in the nation would rather censor GOD!

Yes, school districts all around the nation have forbid the use of 'God' or 'Jesus' in anything from student poems, to essays, to Thanksgiving pagents. Additionally, we do not even teach the Declaration of Independence or the true history of Thanksgiving due to the ACLU and leftists in the nation.

How have we come to the point in time when we can not respect the LORD, our founding fathers, our history or the truth as to what we are all about. It would do those well who reject the religious foundations of this nation to learn or re-learn our collective history. We can respect other beliefs, all religions and still hold to our judeo-christian beginnings.

READ the DOI, READ the PRE-AMBLE to the CONSTITTUTION, READ the writings of founders and you can not come to any other conclussion than that this nation was founded on the principals set forth in the teachings of Christ.

The purpose of the seperation (Church and State) was made clear (by our founding fathers)...not to establish a single religion. IT made no reference to 'not' acknowledge the diety or GOD or JESUS, or the ALMIGHTY. In fact, it would be impossible to ESTABLISH a single religion in this nation, particularly considering that their are more than 25000 denominations of Christianity. Lest you make the argument that Christianity is itself a single religion. However, do make that claim to many of those demoninations who reject other denominations.

This nation should head the words of Ronald Wilson Reagan who said refering to secularism vs non-secular---

WE as a nation need to reject the efforts of our schools and those pushing them to remove the TRUTH of our history from our classrooms. We need to teach the TRUE history of our founding and the importance of the ALMIGHTY to give us natural rights.

This past presidential election stands as a skirmish for the direction of our nation. Will we demand that the truth be taught in our schools about such things like THANKSGIVING and our FOUNDING. Will we stand together and acknowledge our past and lay claim to our future?

I offered ringing praise of Sen Kerry for his consession speach, but he know shows his flip flop side and returns to his roots of bitter politics. Thankfully, this man was stopped...

UN either disolve or change

the UN is a mess bordering on irrelevence.
This week the UN insiders union voted a referendum on "No Confidence" for the Secretary General Anann.
This week it was disclosed that the IRAQ government bilked the world out of 21 plus billion instead of the ridiculously high number of 10 plus billion via the control of the UN.

The time has come to remove Anan at the very least.
The time has come to restructure the Security Council to reflect the World in 2004
The time may also have come to disband this organization in favor of one that works--if we do no do the first two items.

At the very least the UN must replace Anann and the hierarchy at the UN, indictments may also be needed to bring back credibility back, if at all possible. Anan needs to be indicted along with his cadre of associates who knowlingly allowed for teh diversion of "oil for food" bribes.

The UN use a French bank, BNP Paribus, to run the banking side of the program. Typicial of French history they buried their head in the sand and ignored the facts to avoid understanding the laundering of the money's. BNP at best is culpable of insider knowledge and allowing it to occur, and at worst, knee deep in the corruption of the "oil for food" program. It is not ironic nor accidental that the French bank was chosen by Annan to run the program. It is not an accident at all.

21 billion in coruption at the UN and through a French bank does not stand up to the sniff test, The time has come for changes...

at the very least, the Security Coucil needs to remove France and possibly a few more nations and replace the old school nations with the 21st century versions. Japan and Brazil to name a few. Indonesia needs consideration as well. the largest Muslim population in the world may deserve a seat at the SC table.

At a minimum, the SC needs restructuring to reflect the times. I would urge a pull out by the US for the largely US funded organization that practices anti-americanism. We can create a real judicious and representative body that is deliberative and democratic in nature.
The UN has been in violation of it's own charter for decades now. An INTERNATIONAL BODY that respects, truly respects, HUMAN RIGHTS and as such celebrates adherance to the tenets of the original UN charter of Free Nations, Liberty and Democracy needs to be established. IF the UN continues to put Libya and nations like the former IRAQ on chair of Disarmorment committees or HUMAN RIGHTS committees, the relevance is gone!

To re-establish itself, at the minimum, the UN needs to remove Annan and restructure the Security Council to reflect the reality of the 21st century. Their are 21 plus billion reasons to do so!

This week, Delay and the GOP reversed the well thought rule they put in 10 years ago for the sake of Delay, who might be indicted this or next week.
Sure, you could argue that the potential indictment is politically driven by a partisan DA in Texas, all too willing to deal the legislator a blow, but it does not make his and the GOP effort to augment the rules any less wrong.

Tom Delay, whom i have met and like, should be ashammed of himself and the sponsors and supporters shoud as well. The GOP owns a significant majority in the house and will remain in power for some time to come.
This is all the more reason, NOT to change ethical rules in favor of any individual or party. We succeeded in gaining control because of the arrogance of hte DEMS in power for 40years, sadly it seems the GOP arrogance is simmering up in only 10years.

As a conservative, I am highly dissapointed by this measure to favor an individual, irrespective of whether it is to right a wrong, the issue is good or bad rules, not good or bad District Attorny's.

Hillary and 2006...2008

Hillary may see the 2004 election in a historical light, pushing her to run for Governor in 2006 instead of re-election as the junior Senator of New York. The last sitting Senator to win the Presidency was JFK (not KERRY), it is seldom done for clear reasons.
It is tough to run on a Legislative record that records opinions and votes on nearly every topic important in politics today and yesterday. Though Kerry tried to hide from his record( with help from the media) he was not able to do so entirely. Hillary understands that and as such may try to move to Albany in 2006

One problem looms...Rudy who also has interest in 2006 and again in 2008 for the WH.

Hillary is no fool and understands the road ahead. She has a huge war chest and a team of consultants already on the ground laying the rail. She only needs to decide where that rail needs to lead...Albany in 2006 or the Senate re=election in 2006 and the WH in 2008.
She has an enormous list of IOU's from every Senator and Congressperson of the DEM persuasion that she campaigned for in 2002 and 2004. She is already moderating her religious views and had already been pro-defense in appropriations during her short Senate career.

Smart money would say RUDY and HILL will meet in the gubernatorial race for New York state in 2006...though she may defy odds makers and remain in the Senate to avoid challenging the popular Mayor of America--RUDY.

You can bet the house that she will not make any decisions in 2006 until RUBY makes his...that is a lock!

Powell out, Condi in...is bad politics for BUSH

Powell tried to be a good soldier for the President and did a good job in the manner, though it was usually too obvious when he used back channels to discredit the administration.
Powell served well in his post and served a more important role as the media darling in the administration. Powell was by most accounts the moderate member of the cabinet and the left liked having him there. Condi who is tapped to replace him, is far more qualified than Powell to serve in the capacity of Secretary of State, emminently more qualified, but she also believed to be more of a BUSH person than Powell was...

The problem with a selection of Condi as SoS is that it affords the DEMS an opportunity to bring back the 9/11 hearing and Iraq as issues during a time in which the President has a narrow opportunity to push a legislative agenda. Nominating Rice to replace Powell, though a good move for our nation, is a poor political one based upon the vetting that will go on the partisan side. The DEMS will use this moment to rehash the IRAQ, Abu Ghraib, Fullugah, 9/11 Hearings, INTEL Hearings, North Korea Policy and anything else they can muster to keep the Administration on the defensive while they should be focusing their energies on TAX REFORM, SS REFORM, TAX SIMPLICATION, TAX CUT PERMANENTCY, and other goals for the Second ADM.

Condi is a great choice that time has passed in this post. Condi could serve as SoS in action if not name. Appointing another pro-BUSH person to SoS and havign a team approach might serve us and BUSH better.

Sadly, RICE is and has trained for this role her whole life, sadly, due to Washington Politics it will smear her along the confirmation process and the attempt will include an effort to derail her from future electability and rising to higher levels---the left fears this lady more than the right fears Hillary.

Insider trading in the Kerry Campaign could doom Hillary in 08

What we on the right had suspected from the outset is now the mode conspiracy theory in Dem circles. We believed for some time that the network of Friends of Bill (FOB), had little to no interest in seeing Kerry win in 04.
Today, even more so than the Obermann BUSH stole 2004 OHIO, the Kerry-ites are now crying that Hill/Bill 2008 campaign started during the Kerry/Edwards 2004 run and sabatoged the effort in 2004.

What is most interesting is the in fighting will likely end like the duel between Hamilton and Burr in 1804, possilby killing both Kerry and Hillary 's chances in 2008. If the rank and file begin to believe the maniacle bent of Hillarys troops to inflitrate the Kerry campaign to derail the campaign then HILL may suffer as a result of the split in the party.

Already running, by her pro-religion talk of this last week, for 2008 and having a huge IOU list from congressional and senatorial fundraising she did, she could be too smart and crafty for her own good.

This along with the blistering defeat to BUSH could further fracture the donkey party, leaving in it's wake the room for a uniter to arise like...DEAN the anti-Kerry, anti-Clinton candidate from 2004.

With the blow up at CBS over forged doc's that were known to Clinton puppets inside the Kerry campaign( Lockhart) and the flip flopping advise from Bill himself the war of the roses may be in the works inside the DNC.

Terry McAuffle is a Clinton man, who could not stop from showing his face on every show that would have him showing his ugly side had the second most to lose if Kerry won...he likely would have been replaced by Kerry in favor of his own insider.

The other angle is Edwards himself, who is not a favorite of the Clintonista's and will show up again on radar in 2007. He needs an implossion inside the DNC to gain fractional support from the record 56 million who voted for second place.

The real news is not the internal sabatoge by the HILLARY plants like Carville and Lockhart, but the resulting fued that will occur because the rank and file will undoudtedly understand the mother of all this is Hillary, who sacrificed Kerry in 2004 for her own possibility in 2008.

Yet like Burr firing that fateful bullet, she has possibly ruined her own reputation (which already was suffering in middle america) potentially killing her and Bills likely rise to the top of the DEM field in 2008

Arafat, Terrorism and the UN

A Terrorist died this week, presumably his name is Arafat. Though he shrouded his real life from view or his pedigree, he was nonetheless a Terrorist on the grand scale.

Some of his (claimed) accomplishments are that he is the grandfather of hijacking planes for terrorist gain. So one could say he was the grandfather of 9/11 too. He is principally the inventor of using children as suicide bombers. The little secret is that Jordan, Syria, Saudia Arabia nor any other Arab/Middle East Nation wanted the palistinians in their own borders. They have used Arafat and his minions to conduct of war against Isreal while remaining out of it for more than two decades. Plausible deniability as it is called.

I would not nor should not surprise that the Oslo or the Barek offer during 2000 came and went without action by the PLO. I would not or should not shock anyone that Arafat took his marching orders NOT to sign the aggrement from the powers that be in the region, those that financially supported the billion dollar opperation known as the Palistinian Authority, or PLO.

When Isreal allowed him to return to the region from exile in TUNIS, it set in motion a decade long dialog that succeeded in acomplishing nothing.

Since the 47 UN resolution and hte Arab war against ISREAL in 48 the UN has worked it's magic to keep the fighting alive instead of stopping it. Currently the UN has shwn no gumption in defeating genocide anywhere in the world and has done too much to allow it. Against it's own CHARTER, the UN has not lived up to the mandate to support and foster self determination and liberty around the globe.

Sadly, allowing Arafat to speak at the UN in 74 or letting nations like Libya or IRAQ or IRAN into the membership violated its own purpose and CHARTER.

the coalition of those who believe we should have put together a 'better', 'big', more euro-centric coaliton to battle Saddam, might like to know that along with buying both France and Russia, SH also had enormous contracts with RUSSIA for various military technologies and weapons.
The coaltion of Denial, might like to kow the following...that RUSSIA was active in IRAQ providing both arms, supplies, defensive technologies and logistical support, so much so two RUSSIAN OFFICERS recieved awards from the IRAQIS. Read Gertz in the TIMES to get the story...linked below
